I would just like to thank all of the wonderful staff for the care and attention given to my Mother during her short time at Villa Serena. It was truly a comfort to the family that Mum was being cared for the way she would of wanted to. Thank you again.

My mother originally came to Villa Serena for a respite stay in August 2013 following the death of her husband earlier that year. This stay was so good that Mum elected to remain as a permanent resident and has been in Palazzino since that time. She has enjoyed her life as a resident of Villa Serena with its high standards of nursing and personal care, the myriad of activities available throughout the year and the ease of access for family and friends to come and visit at any time. She often describes Villa Serena as the 'best home' she has ever had and after having some 13 different homes during her life we have no reason to doubt her! Towards the end of last year (2017) Mum became generally unwell (loss of appetite and weight, general malaise and a loss of interest in most activities) and we became concerned that this may have been a prelude to her slipping away. However all of the staff at Villa Serena were excellent in letting us know what was happening with her and attending to her needs. Indeed the care she received was such that we believe that this helped her to recover and regain her zest for life which is where she is again today. We are grateful for the services and care provided to Mum as a resident of Villa Serena and wouldn't want her to be anywhere else! Thank you!! The Ruge Family

Well I wrote the below in advance . I totally retract anything good I said about this place. Everything was fine until they opened up my Respite Number.... At first I was told there were rooms not room - ROOMS available, there would be no hassle there. Also Robyn at first point of contact BOOKED ME IN FOR 3 WEEKS. So I was booked in and was told there were rooms. Plural Then today after looking into my respite number - I was informed that they would not be able to take me with my needs. I told the lady that my needs would be minimal - I would spend nearly all the time in my bed and the room. My procedure did not require any dressing done on it, Though I cannot dress myself - but I can put a nightie over my head just not bend down. I couldnt understand why they were rejecting me - I was a mess in tears as this meant soooo very much to me..... and to give my son a much needed break. Also we are looking at homelessness in 2 months, not being able to redo our lease... So I wanted to heal and rest before tackling that problem. I was crying so much she said she would get an intake officer to ring me. But she rang back and informed me that the bed had been given away to a permanent resident. I knew this was a lie, as I had witnesses as well when they told me they had a few rooms - that it would not be a hassle. Also, this My respite Lady Liz had tried to get me in there 18 months ago but it came back rejected.... I believe that they are DISCRIMINATING AGAINST ME WITH NO FOUNDING TO DO SO. THEY ARE GOING TO HAVE TO ANSWER TO THE AGED CARE ADVOCACY - DISCRIMINATION IS NOT TOLERATED. My lady from organising Respite told me to report this matter and them , which I have put a complaint through. So my wonderful post below became a nightmare. So if you get wonderful customer service, don’t take it as real ...... As they might not like what is in your respite file either...... And at $50 a day + an extra $25 a day on top.... You would think they would be offering great services whether your needs are low or high ... obviously they just want low needs. I will update the outcome of the investigation. I am posting this in advance. I had wanted to get into Villa Serena 3 other times I needed respite but apparently they did not have room.......... Because of what I went through at the other Respites, I decided I would never ever go to a respite again. It is scarey, they can be cruel and shocking what I witnessed. I connected with my best friend from school and she works here, so instead of putting my son through sleepless nights after my procedures on the 1st May - I am staying here for 2 - 3 weeks. My friend put me through to one lady who has put me down for that long and I just need to speak with the Manager to get the paperwork etc done. I am so happy, I will feel safe, and be able to heal well and my son who is my full time Carer will not have to stay awake all night for 7 days in a row plus cook for me. Etc. I have not had a holiday inn 20 years so I am hoping to embrace it as a holiday and I am having one of the suites on the bottom floor overlooking the garden as I will be confined to my room. I will update after my stay. I am so happy that I can be fitted in this time as I would never step foot in any other respite facility after the cruel treatment on myself and others I witnessed and the lack of care causing me to get a kidney infection so I took myself by taxi to my Doctor from the respite and she said I had come just in time. I witnessed disgusting treatment in the 3 I stayed at, and swore I would NEVER go back to one - as lol the ones I went to were private... and I wanted to let the children know what the staff were doing to their parent. And I will have A friend there which will make me feel safer. I Gave 5 star in advance, after speaking with the 2 ladies about my respite and they guaranteed I would love it and have a room overlooking the courtyard. It sounded like exactly what I needed desperately at this time.

This is a gorgeous facility. The residents seem to love their home. The staff are friendly as well.
