Vaporetto is a new Venetian Bar & Eatery in Hawthorn, Melbourne. Located beneath the Lido Cinema complex, trading 7 days.

Story

Kim Coronica and Greg Feck, owners of Crabapple Kitchen, along with David Wickwar bring you Hawthorn's very own Venetian Bar & Eatery. Vaporetto or "Little Steamer" as it translates to in English, are Italian water taxis which service the canals and islands of Venice. Join us as we transport you to this beguiling city to discover the food, wine and cocktails of the Veneto region.

The Bar and Eatery is open 7 nights a week from from 5pm and all day from 12 noon on Friday - Sunday.

I’ve come here several times with different friends and everyone loved it every single time. Service is always warm, friendly — and yes, the staff even sing! Such a vibe.nnHighly recommend starting with the Wagyu Carpaccio — thin slices that taste almost like Italian cured meat, so flavorful and fun to eat! The Arancini is also a classic and never disappoints.nnFor mains, their steaks and pastas are all amazing. The lobster pasta, the seafood pasta, and the wheels-of-cheese pasta are absolute must-tries! If you see the wheel-cheese pasta back on the menu — RUN don’t walk Add shaved truffle for extra heaven.nAnd make sure to ask about the Special — I once got a T-Bone that was huge, perfectly grilled rare, melt-in-your-mouth good. If there’s no special steak available, the Controfiletto is a great pick too!nnDesserts are also — Tiramisu and Panna cotta are both perfectly balanced, not too sweet and super delicious.nOverall: amazing food, fun energy, genuine service every time. We had such a wonderful night and can’t wait to come back again… and again!
Every dish at Vaporetto was genuinely impressive. The lobster pasta was fresh and full of flavor, the seafood linguine was rich with generous portions, and the beef was perfectly tender and comforting. The servings were larger than expected, and the staff were warm and attentive.nDefinitely a place I’d love to return to — a true gem in Hawthorn.
I found the food here to be just okay. My pasta was too oily and too rich for my liking.nnThe service was attentive, although perhaps a bit over the top. There was a lot of unnecessary fuss over the menus. Each dish was explained to us, but we could not understand half of what the young man said.nnThe interior decor was very nice and made me feel as though I were in a Venetian restaurant rather than in Melbourne, with its ornate details. Nice with the quote on the wooden panel hanging over the bar.
Im on my holidays in Melbourne and came across this Vaporetto bar and eatery, was not only a treat for the taste buds but also for the soul, thanks to the exceptional service of Georgia, Jasmin, Mark, Seba the bartender who give good cocktails recommendations.nEvery staff member exuded warmth and professionalism, creating an atmosphere that felt both refined and personal.nOur server anticipated every need, refilling glasses, checking in at just the right moments, and offering thoughtful recommendations. Combined with the authentic Italian dishes and inviting ambiance, the whole experience felt effortless and memorable.nShout out also to John who is very welcoming and accommodating, he always checks us out and has very friendly personality.nnI would like to come back again for sure and will highly recommend this place to my friends in Australia.
I found this restaurant because of all the great reviews online, but it was really disappointing. The seafood was not fresh at all, and the steak didn’t taste fresh either — it was tough and hard to chew. Honestly, the steak I cook from supermarket meat tastes much better. Very disappointing! Money Wasted!nnWe finished the dish because we paid, we didn’t want to waste food, but that doesn’t change how disappointing it was. The seafood and steak were clearly not fresh, and for $150, this was completely unacceptable. After reading other one-star reviews, it’s clear we weren’t the only ones served poor-quality food. Actually our experience matched exactly what other diners described in their reviews. The food wasn’t fresh and certainly not worth the price.nnThis is not an authentic Italian restaurant!!! Please don’t waste your money here like we did.nnCommenting on my review history and suggesting I “don’t enjoy dining out” was unnecessary and unprofessional. I dine out because I enjoy good food and always leave honest reviews — both positive and negative — based on my real experiences.nnEveryone works hard for their money, including your customers. My review isn’t about “looking for faults”; it’s about paying for quality and not receiving it. I’m sharing my experience so others don’t waste their hard-earned money like we did!
