Story

van Wegens Bakery was opened 10 years ago by Dane van wegen who is the owner / baker of the business. Dane is a 3rd generation baker who bakes everything on the premises and from scratch!

We try and use local ingredients where necessary. We have a full range of cakes / slices / pies & pastries and are renound for our 11 Sourdoughs!

Our Sour Doughs are Orgnanic and we only use Pink Himalayan Crystal Salt throughout the bakery.

Pleased that despite some time has passed since a change in ownership, the new owners did not squeeze recipes for short term profit. Something we think drove a different small bakery and cafe further south out of business over time. Breads, sweet and savoury items are tasty and not priced ridiculously high, much appreciated. Service is very efficient and always friendly, the shop very clean. Thank you.
Got a cherry and apple pie! My goodness so amazing had some custard at the bottom! Man so unreal! 10/10 would recommend! Going back for more

Love this bakery! Hot buttered donut pretzel is a fav. Their pastries are hearty too, spinach and feta, Steak and cheese and sausage rolls are yum! Reasonably priced. Friendly staff.

Purchased some olliebollen from you yesterday. They were so overcooked and hard, impossible to bite. Burnt all the way through. Had to bin them, very disappointed .
An amazing bakery!!! I've yet to encounter a traditional style bakery that does treats as well as these guys. If you ever spent time in France and have fond memories their croissants will make you cry. Beautifully crafted thin layers of crispy buttery pastry. Think food critic in ratatouille, last scene of the movie!!! I could go on but just try it.

Very friendly staff, well priced. Photo featured is a Cheese & Bacon pie. The crust was crunchy and well cooked, the filling was really delicous, I think the only negative point I think would be the lack of cheese & Bacon. Maybe I just like lots ‍. Overall would recommend.
