The room was fine, bathrooms always smelled dirty, even after a cleaning. The kitchen is missing out on having enough of some utensils, cutlery, and cups. Staff is nice though. Layout of the place is odd. Location is pretty good. WiFi appears to be unlimited when it works. Overall not a bad hostel.

We stayed here for one night, before heading to Stewart Island to do the great walk. Rooms were comfy, good shower and had the facilities that we needed for the night. Being New Years Eve we could hear the band playing next door, but can’t fault the establishment for that. Coffee and fruit smoothies were awesome, and a food discount for staying at the Backpackers was a bonus. Shuttle pick up to Bluff was right outside the main door, and the staff were able to help with a few questions about the town. Located right downtown and easy walking distance to all the main stores.

Stayed here on our way down to Bluff on the Te Araroa. We were put in Room 10, which is right next to the back gate. It was clanging loudly all night long. At three separate points during the night, someone in our room CLIMBED OUT OF THE WINDOW to close it again, but it wouldn't stay closed. In the morning we brought this to the attention of the manager. She didn't seem to care at all. Southern Comfort BBH is just up the road, maybe another kilometer away. You get a much better experience for your money there, guaranteed.

Smooth coffee :) 1st class, no acidity. I see they use Vivace beans. Beef pie and eggs benedict were great. Normal Cafe prices. Comfy chairs. Very happy. Thanks guys :)

It is a nice place in the heart of Invercargill. It is the only backpacker here. Queen’s park is close feom here.
