I had an absolutely terrible experience in Tottenham recently. I was coming back from New Year’s Eve celebrations in the city, and as I passed through Tottenham Station at night, I felt incredibly unsafe. The area was full of sketchy people hanging around the car park, and it was clear that many were involved in some serious drug activity. I even saw people shooting up right there, which was just disturbing.nnOn top of that, there were shady characters lurking around, and I witnessed a robbery happening nearby. It made me feel so uncomfortable and on edge, and I couldn’t wait to get out of there.nnMy advice to anyone thinking of visiting Tottenham Station: travel in pairs or avoid it completely at night. It’s not the kind of place you want to be after dark, especially if you're on your own. I will definitely be taking my chances elsewhere next time. Tottenham Station is just way too sketchy!
The station summary:nExpress trains don't stop here.nThe station doesn't have rest rooms.nCovered area is limited but on a real windy day there isn't much of shelter available.nnGetting there:nCar - you can drive to the station and park your car in the stipulated parking along Rupert Street or along Sunshine road, if you find any slots. Its easier to find parking along the Rupert St. than on Sunshine road.nnBus - Take Rt 220 to get down at Barkley Street and walk to the station.nnStation amenities:nLimited Cycle locking stations are limited but usually available.nNo rest rooms or covered waiting rooms.nNo active staff except for the patrol police at night times.nTicket vending machine and soft drink vending machines available.nThis station has ample parking along the railway land beyond the stipulated car park, and some improvement works are in place to make this place more accessible.nnNOTE: They have removed Disband l Disabled parking slots!!nnTips:n1. You cannot buy Myki card at this station, though you can top up. However, you can buy day ticket using the ticket vending machine.n2. Stay close to the entrance of you rely on audio announcements. The speaker system isn't that good and you miss announcements if you stand at the other end of the station on a noisy / windy day.
Not much going on at this station, right next to tottenham yard but nowhere to foam. Doesn’t help that tottenham yard is dying out.
Kind of weird that a cargo train depot is right next to the station but not too bad of a station
Public toilets have been closed for over 10 years, so they exist but you have no right to use them. The closest public toilets are at Central West shopping centre, however if you don't know where it is, you might go wrong. I'm not sure if the shops across the road on the Tottenham side have public toilets. With all the money making stations look pretty, the upgrades to regional lines, Tottenham got the carpark upgraded etc could have not one person worked out toilets? The local council is known for hating having public toilets and for ignoring disability needs in general, so no one is holding their breath that they might do something.
