Nice spot for some some camping. Sites seem a little close together for my liking hence the loss of a star but overall a really good spot to set up for a few nights. The river is only a short walk away. To avoid missing out, make sure you book … when we were there it was full and people would drive in and then out. I can only assume they were looking for a spot to sleep for the night.
A little further down the track but has more spacious camping spots than Charlie's Flat, and a better campsite layout. Bring some bug repellent or prepare to be set-on by nasty biting March flies pictured.
We stayed for 3 nights in October. we didn't experience any marsh fly issues, even the mozzies weren't that bad, we didn't use bug repellent once. The drop toilets were the best I've come across, even my son, who's never used one before wasn't to put off! Our camp site, number 2, was much larger than I expected, could of fitted 3 dome tents on it, though only room for one you could squeeze in a 2nd, but it'd be tight. Site was in good condition and clean. Had friendly ducks visiting us each evening which was nice. Lots of bird life around in general.
Great family camping area. Booking ahead of time is a must, but once you are here you can let the kids roam free without too many worries. Everyone else is doing it. Bring your own firewood though, we are doing about 3/4 of a 15kg bag a night including the morning fire but if you’re on campsite #4 you’ll probably use less as the fireplace is thinner and taller than the rest of them. Two drop dunnies service the whole place, but they were functioning properly when we were there and the smell was definitely tolerable. If you have delicate noses in your group, make other arrangements. The river is close by and has mild and medium water turbulence. Very pleasant Australian bush river setting.
Initially had a site booked here but we were double booked and subsequently moved to Charlie's Flat. This site is very open, no privacy. Good if you had multiple groups that wanted to be close but not my cup of tea. So glad the rangers were able to move us.
Storms on Friday night meant the campsite was very quiet, only a few others camping. Ranger came round to check everything survived and no one was camping without paying
Nice but older camping spot near the river. Far enough into Lane Poole park that it's not well visited in winter. Can get muddy when raining and drainage of some camp sites needs improvement. You are supposed to book ahead on the WA Parks website. There is a fee.
Great spot. Shady and close to the river and island pool. Downside was the horse flys and not much breeze. Would be excellent on a sunny winter weekend.
It's winter - we camped for a night and it was ok. Some campites look bad when it's raining as it gets muddy. Toilet is not the best. The place though is peaceful and the river is so calm.
Very lovely spot to camp and swim. We took some paddle boards down too. Very well set up with a little place for a camp fire and a cooking spot. Also had table and bench chairs there to sit at
