Food was delicious definitely less greasy and more flavourful than your average dim sum place. Price was ok, was a bit more expensive than other dim sum places and you have to choose from a menu. It does not have as many options as a regular dim sum place and there are no carts going around. When you are ready to order you just need to ring the bell and a waiter will come to you. Staff was lovely but I found some of the dishes a bit too small for the price especially the greens. Egg tarts were definitely the highlight though!
I found many 1star reviews for this restaurant and I seriously doubt the authenticity of them. As some of them were not written by experienced reviewer. And most of the reviewers only had written less than five reviews. Luckily I tried rather than believing in them. Yes, the dim sum were quite expensive for their small size and the choices were very limited. I do think their quality were above most of the dim sum restaurant in Perth. There were a lot of fillings in bbq pork bun and the glutinous rice. $2.5 for one cup of Chinese tea might be a bit non sense, so we ordered other drinks. Quite a good dining experience , especially when you don’t have to wait for a table on a Sunday noon.
Just went there 2 days ago. I was disappointed by the limited choices on offer but just read that the menu is similar to their other branches. The quality is between acceptable to good but I'd rather pay less and get the same quality, bigger quantity and larger selection of traditional dim sum at other Perth restaurants. I will not be returning.
The service was good and fast. The cashier girl was super nice and asked us how was the meal and accepted our feedback with a smile. The food is yummy and within an average price. However, DO NOT order the meat balls.
Wow the wait staff need some more excitement! Very unresponsive and looked like they couldn’t be bothered! We ordered a green tea which was cold, we asked for a fresh hot tea, it took 3 prompts to staff to re-serve our tea. Food was OK, but really small serves and way way over priced! Absolutely recommend going in to Northbridge for far better dim sum, with large serves and lower prices.
So happy we came here. Everything was fabulous! we came in quite late so there was no line. Service was fast, helpful and friendly. The food was piping hot and fresh. Not a big menu but plenty of delicious options So didn’t feel I missed anything.. My faves: Chicken Wonton Noodle Soup OMG GOOD. So fresh Prawn and chive dumplings make sure you roll them in the dressing. Mmmmm But honestly everything was so yummy. Loved it. Thank you!
Tried it for dinner on a Friday night. First things first. They don't serve chilli oil at all, just soy sauce and sweet chilli sauce. Having said that, we tasted the food as is and it was tasty. The highlight were the baked bbq buns and wasabi prawn dumplings but the servings are small for the expensive price. Waiters were very friendly and attentive. Right now you can expect to wait for a while to be seated. Overall it was a good dinner, just pricey. Edit - chilli oil now available.
Some dishes were excellent, others were average or perhaps a little flavourless. The 4 star rating is for the excellent dishes which are good enough for me to go back for. If it didn't have the pork buns I would give it a 3. We came on a wed night and it was 70% empty. I wouldn't bother lining up for this place. The service was efficient and good and quick. Pork buns were excellent. The pastry steals the show. Not your steamed type, it's basked and cross between western pastry shortcrust and sweet bread. Flakey, buttery, soft and fluffy. It makes whatever you put in it delicious. Encased in a sweet slightly crunchy basting shell. The pork inside was tasty, but could have done with more punchy BBQ flavour and could be saltier. Despite this, its still the standout dish. I haven't come across anything else with the same texture. 5/5 Beef in bean curd dish. Was mild and good. The sauce wasn't as oily as it look but it also wasn't that strongly flavoured. The dish needed chilli oil. Or black bean flavours. 3/5 Radish turnip cake wasn't that nice. It was fried but mushy. Not much flavour. Kind of tasted like rice. Needs to be diced, then tossed in some kind of tasty black bean sauce. 1/5 Mango pomelo sago dessert was delicious. Tasted like mango sorbet melted and thickened it was quite sweet. Great dish, I like it more than most desserts in dim sum 5/5 Pork lover roll. Quite nice, pork liver ginger and onion was interesting. 4/5 Cheese almond shrimp ball. This was really cool. But beware! The cheese was liquid and napalm in the centre and squirts out. Kinda reminded us of a kransky. 5/5
This is the third Tim Ho Wan restaurant that I have been. This place is not as busy as the two I’ve been to in other country even though it’s a lunch hour rush. Was given the list where one checks his order then rings for the waiter. Food was delivered quick. Dining at this place is not complete without ordering their famous roasted pork buns. Had some dimsum and congee with century eggs and some slices of pork. Their menu is all the same as the other branches I’ve visited.
Chineses yumcha style restaurant but they don't come around on carts. You are given a small clip board with a menu sheet which you fill out by selecting dishe numbers. Pictures and prices of the dishes are printed on a A3 paper. Prices were pretty reasonable and serving time was not long. They don't spilt bills but you can fill separate sheets to avoid that.
