"Opening in 1837, Hobart’s Theatre Royal has been the home of contemporary theatre in Tasmania for more than 186 years and is Australia’s oldest working theatre. This 700-seat national treasure occupies an important place in the hearts of Tasmanians and many visitors to Hobart.Since 2020, the Theatre Royal has occupied The Hedberg, a world class performing arts precinct in the heart of Hobart, Tasmania. These new spaces - including three levels of foyers and bars, and a 285-seat Studio Theatre, have provided many new opportunities for audiences to engage with the performing arts.The Theatre Royal curates an annual season of contemporary performance and events, which aims to present high calibre experiences for our audiences."

I love this gorgeous historic stage theatre.
From childhood to adulthood it is always a pleasure to attend.

Lovely atmosphere, beautiful painted ceilings, very ornate. Not sure about air-con, stiflingly hot in the dress circle during the show. But otherwise a very enjoyable evening.
