The Tropic
"At the northern end of Burleigh Pavilion sits a full-service restaurant, The Tropic. Aside from the view, the highlight of the venue is the large open kitchen, which allows diners a front row seat to see head chef Guillaume Zika and his team at work. The Tropic’s produce-driven menu showcases ingredients from the local area and northern NSW region with standouts being the kingfish tartare, fig salad, wood fired pig calzone, ocean king prawns and rib eye on the bone. With its unforgettable backdrop and relaxed space, The Tropic is the perfect spot for a long lunch or dinner with a view."

I'm deeply impressed by the food and service of The Tropic. Our server was this sweet young girl from Chile. Didn't get her name unfortunately but she really made our brief encounter memorable and beautiful! Servers are important for the customers and we're happy to have had her. Although on the expensive side, the food was totally impressive! Compliments to your chefs on a job superbly done! Also appreciate the fact that we were moved to the table by the sea when we requested it.
Very amazed by the Ocean King Prawns Mafaldine pasta. Ordered a second serving for our table. Giant octopus and Puffed spiced bread can’t be missed as well. Very happy with our options. The only average and slightly overpriced item would be cold Seafood platter. It’s not well valued. Service is impeccable.
This place is simply amazing. Food & Drinks: 10/10 Their cocktails and food were incredibly delicious. We started off with their Tropic Sunset and Basil Maybe cocktails, and it immediately took us off into our tropical holiday mood! We then had their mixed fish ceviche, grilled king prawns, and spanner crab linguine - all of which were delectable. The seafood is incredibly fresh, and gosh, the prawns were just to die for. Atmosphere: 10/10 Be prepared to be taken away into your tropical vacation as you overlook the beach! Absolutely stunning scenery and the restaurant setting is modern yet classy. Just gorgeous. Service: 9/10 Last but not least, their staff is incredibly friendly and cheerful - love you guys! I'll definitely visit this place again on my next trip to GC.
Superb hospitality from the hostess! I tried the oysters, Angus sirloin and roast potatoes. Wanted to order more stuff to try but I can’t finish what I ordered. Will try the small plates and king prawns the next time! Better to make reservations too for seats with better views, in the day.
Finished my time at the Gold Coast at a place my partner and I had some lovely lazy afternoons at. Lovely service, good vibe, incredible puffed spice bread, good cocktails. Good view of the ocean.
Dishes are delicious especially the entrees. The view from the deck is very nice. It is a bit too noisy if you want a quiet dinner.
4.5 stars! 5 star for hospitality by the whole crew. Fresh food, had the puffed bread with burrata ; oysters; crab linguini and lobster zucchini flower; 3 of us were very satisfied. Great music ; was a little too loud for us to talk but probably my own fault for not asking for a table outside.
Couldn't fault the entire experience. Excellent service from everyone that came into contact with us including the table change request when we got hammered with rain on the deck. Two of us shared the seafood platter and added on the burrata which was excellent with the puffed bread! Our drinks were always topped up and everyone served with a smile. Only downside was each chair we sat on had so many crumbs or sand on it.
This was an excellent dining experience, the food was superb , well, presented by friendly and attentive staff. The food is well priced and competitive with other local restaurants. It has been a long time since I enjoyed dining out this much! Our table for two was way too small for the food platters we ordered, and the beer was not what I ordered for some reason, possibly just a mistake. If you want peace and quite with your dinner, this is not for you as some of the patrons were quite raucous at times. Keeping the above in mind, I recommend the Tropic.
Such a stunning restaurant in a beautiful location overlooking the water. The cocktails are delicious and the food is nice although the portion sizes are very small for large prices. Overall a nice experience for a weekend lunch.
