Story

Located on the edge of the Pacific Ocean at Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, it’s easy to see why so many people love visiting the Surf Club any time of day. Established in 1922, The Mooloolaba Surf Club is one of the oldest Surf Life Saving Clubs in Australia.

The Surf Club was destroyed by fire in 1979 so when time came to rebuild, the members of the club voted to create a sophisticated world class venue that would take advantage of the position but always retain the essence of what has endearlingly become known as ‘Australian beach culture’, relaxed, informal and fun, we think they achieved the goal, you be the judge!

From morning to night there’s plenty to do. Pop in for a break, enjoy a cappuccino and relax on the deck, or if an ice cold pot of beer or wine is your choice you’ll find a fine selection to meet the occasion. Have a dabble on the Mini TAB or Keno. Join friends on the deck, morning noon or night. There’s live entertainment every Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights as well as Sunday afternoons. All this and more is waiting for you at the Surf Club on the deck.

The Mooloolaba Surf Club has amazing views over the beach and out to the ocean. They have 2 dining options. 1. Bayview bar & bites upstairs which is more like a restaurant. 2. Downstairs is the bar, bistro and alfresco beer garden. We had lunch upstairs first and then dropped by the bar downstairs. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is great. The staff are super friendly. Well worth a visit.
I only have good things to say about this restaurant. The food was delicious especially the seafood - so fresh, reasonably priced, beautiful view of the ocean, lovely table setting upstairs, and really friendly & attentive staff.nnI would eat here again and will recommend it to friends and family too.
The location of this place is amazing. If you were any closer to the water you would be in it.nnLunch was lovely. The Lamb Kebabs with tabbouleh and hommus was a tasty treasure. The large lamb pieces on the kebabs were juicy and perfectly cooked. It was worth the $34 price tag - which says a lot because I'm not one to pay a lot for meals. This, to me, is a lot of money to pay for a 'pub meal' but it was worth it. Every element was well made and delicious. The portion was large.nnMy friend had the Thai Beef Salad. She said the salad was lovely. It looked fresh and crunchy with a great variety of veggies. She thought the beef was cooked to medium rare and then sliced and added to the salad. She expected it to be marinated or coated in a tangy sauce, but it wasn't. It was an unusual way to serve a Thai Beef Salad and she wasn't sure she liked that aspect.nnMy other friend ordered a Chicken Schnitzel with chips and salad. This is a classic 'pub meal' that is usually filling and safe. Not too much goes wrong with this dish - which is why I often order it. The schnitzel was beautifully cooked and a generous size.nnAll 3 of us really enjoyed the meal.
Sarah, the Manager of Bayview Bar & Bites on L2, went out of her way to accommodate us for lunch today, because the restaurant was closed for the Presentation Awards. Great service. Food was well presented and tasty.
My folks are members there. Great food awesome atmosphere with my favourite beer on tap. Really enjoyed myself there with my parents having lunch. Looking forward to coming back there from Perth.
