Story

Located on the edge of the Pacific Ocean at Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, it’s easy to see why so many people love visiting the Surf Club any time of day. Established in 1922, The Mooloolaba Surf Club is one of the oldest Surf Life Saving Clubs in Australia.

The Surf Club was destroyed by fire in 1979 so when time came to rebuild, the members of the club voted to create a sophisticated world class venue that would take advantage of the position but always retain the essence of what has endearlingly become known as ‘Australian beach culture’, relaxed, informal and fun, we think they achieved the goal, you be the judge!

From morning to night there’s plenty to do. Pop in for a break, enjoy a cappuccino and relax on the deck, or if an ice cold pot of beer or wine is your choice you’ll find a fine selection to meet the occasion. Have a dabble on the Mini TAB or Keno. Join friends on the deck, morning noon or night. There’s live entertainment every Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights as well as Sunday afternoons. All this and more is waiting for you at the Surf Club on the deck.

Upstairs is the most beautiful dining and views! This is the place to be any time of year. I love to sit up there and watch the waves breaking and people swimming and surfing. The staff are always welcoming and there is always a place for you. The food there is fantastic, hot and fresh and the service is exemplary. I love this place!
Bayview Restaurant at Mooloolaba Surf Club has a great location and the venue itself is nice, but unfortunately our experience didn’t quite live up to expectations. Most of the food was good, and presented well, however it arrived warm rather than hot, which was disappointing given the higher price point. One of the main meals was also lacking flavour and was missing items that were listed on the menu.nnService was another letdown. Table service was quite poor and we waited around an hour for our meals, which really took away from the overall experience.nnWith some improvements to service and consistency in the kitchen, this could be a much better dining spot. Based on our visit, I’d rate it 2.5 stars overall.
This only gets an extra star because the wait staff handled a very unpleasant dining experience well.nWe are a long time Coast locals and hospitality industry veteran's and haven't been upstairs to dine in many years because it was such a poor experience in the past, unfortunately the standard hasn't lifted since the last time we dined.nInitially well had high hopes with the menu and the we shared the pork belly entree which was OK however a little on the small side but overall the flavour profile was good and well presented. Not so much can be said for our mains, I had the lamb back strap for $45 which was extremely overcooked, dry and completely devoid of any flavour and was so tough it was hard to even cut. A slight smear of chimichurruri was all the moisture on the plate, along with 3 tiny hard, dry over cooked potatoes that were supposed to be cooked in duck fat. If the potatoes are whole it's very hard to impart the duck fat flavour and texture and quite honestly I'm not sure if they were even cooked in duck fat as they also had no taste. Apart from a burnt piece of lemon that is all that consisted on the plate, 2 burnt dried up pieces of cardboard and 3 dried potatoes for $45 and stone cold, the view is great but definitely not worth that abomination on a plate! My husband had the chicken supreme which was also cooked within an inch of its life, completely dry and tasteless, barely a drizzle of gravy and more of the crap dry potatoes and nothing else. Thankfully the wait staff conveyed our complete disappointment and did offer to rectify the situation, however unfortunately we didn't want to be disappointed again with more terrible food and we didn't pay for the lamb. This kind of experience is unfortunately something we encounter too often here on the Sunshine Coast, with so many dining choices and the fact that on a Sunday lunch the restaurant was virtually empty says a lot about what is being served here. Definitely won't be wasting our money here again.nnEDITED,nThank you for your response however you have missed the point that even if every element on the plate was executed perfectly, there is simply no value on the plate for $45, nor was there any value on the plate for the chicken or the entree. If you are going to serve so called fine dining food and charge $2 more than a piece of eye fillet you expect more on the plate than a small portion of protein, 3 tiny potatoes and a smear of sauce. The waiter kept telling us that a new menu was coming out and it would be better but I'm not sure if even if the components on the plate were executed well it's irrelevant as I am not getting any value for my money.
Celebrated my birthday at the beautiful Bayview restaurant upstairs and it was amazing! The food was absolutely amazing! Max and Sara served us both and were excellent. Jack made some special drinks which were perfect. The chef is doing some incredible things and loved the risotto and rice pudding! Thanks for a special night
It was very calm and an overall chill vibe, same with the employees, they were kind and friendly. The food was great and really cheap. I would definitely recommend.
