Lunch at The Speight's Ale House with my mates from Hawkes Bay.  I had a beautiful steak! Sir Peter Leitch

Oven baked Groper on roast potatoes with tomato salsa and a white wine jus was delicious. Husband's Chicken on black rice with mushrooms and broccoli looked pretty good as well. Cheesecake with vanilla ice cream was just a little too sweet for me, but everyone else seemed to love it.

Was looking for a light lunch - menu was more suited to larger meals, service was quick enough and the light meals we selected were very nice.

Worse than average, how hard is pub grub. Lamb shanks were cold salad was blah! Super unfriendly staff and what looks like the owner was really unfriendly, no one asked how our meal were.  Sorry guys won't be back here. Also had a long wait for food.

Terrible experience, ignored by staff when we walked in. Had to ask where our food was after waiting at least an hour. Food was luke warm, missing sauces and meat was very dry. Disappointing after looking forward to a nice meal out!

So happy we chose to come here for dinner rather than the more run-of-the-mill family friendly options. The food and service were great, and prices were reasonable. I'm surprised they weren't more busy - perhaps on the weekend or a game night it's another story.

$29 for 6 small crispy calamari with a cal slaw salad.

Pretty bloody good... Great meal... Been there three time in the last couple of weeks and she's been a cracker every time.

Great food, lovely snakebites and the bar lady hogs the yellow jet planes
