I had thought a lot before came and give a feedback but I do understand that sharing our experiences it is a way to help others. I had made a Montessori single bed with my husband and was used just three months and was solid wood, so we have decided to donate. I have called the Salvos at Caringbah to ask if they would like to receiving and the man politely gave me the main phone number to book a collect. I have called the main phone, explained everything and made sure that they wanted. The has lady asked if I had more things to donate so I listed a few things that I had, like dining chairs, clothes, toys and others brand new things that I had decided that I wont use. After that I have answered all questions to confirm the list and agreed that I was going to provide everything clean and ready for use. This is a normal procedure. The problem was after that. Today was the collection day and I was really happy waiting for them, thinking about everything that I had done to let all ready and all extra clothes and toys that I have collected to try to help more people. They arrived and let the truck parked in the middle of the road which was strange because during the call I have told that I had a driveway available. I have tried to ask for they parking in my driveway but one of them looked at me like I was disturbing, so I decided to focus on the donation and opened my garage. This is when things got strange. He has started to questioning all items and decides what he was going to collect and what not. I told him that I had already told to the call center everything that I was going to donate including the brand new things and he rudely answered that “people at the call center does not know what they do. They book everything but we have to check. ” Also he added that “if you do not want something why do you believe that we want? We do not need furniture and we do not have people who need this kind of things ”. To sum up, I have done all procedures and at the end he does not collected all that I have booked. So, if you are thinking about donations, use the charity bins or council collect. Otherwise you might fell disrespected and disappointed like I am now.
Nice people they do a free dinner Tuesday nights and a free food hamper on Thursdays between 3 and 4
