Story

John and Park are originally from South Korea, immigrated to Australia in 2012, started to work as a Head Chef at Salt Bar & Grill in Emerald Queensland and settled down in Brisbane in 2016. Having moved down in the area early 2017, John and Park tend to become true locals as they have met so many friendly neighborhood and friends here.

John, the owner and head chef, has been worked as a chef more than 17 years in 5-stars hotels such as Italian restaurant at the Grand Intercontinental Hotel Seoul, All day dining restaurant at Sheraton Hotel Seoul and Stamford Plaza & Colmslie Hotel Brisbane.

Teaming up with Head Chef John, John’s younger sister Heather and the friendly staff, The Pepper Lounge guarantees that we continuously provide great food, friendly service and a welcoming atmosphere.

I would have rated it 5 stars a couple of years ago but recently went again and was shocked with the rise in prices. Good food as the chef is brilliant but can't justify the cost anymore... The owners have changed a few times I think. Disappointed as used to rave about the pepper lounge.

Service is good, staff are friendly & coffee usually good also, however pricing is a little over the top for some of the meals in particular lunch time chicken tandoori burger. $16 - when I asked if it came with chips the answer was no so I was expecting something pretty spectacular from the burger. Burger arrived in a timely manner looking very lonely and small on a large plate all by itself. The bun, in my opinion, looked and tasted like a roll from next doors bakery but waiter insisted it was sour dough, the chicken was beautifully seasoned but there was literally less than a quarter of a breast, the cucumber sauce was also sparse and I failed to taste or see any cucumber and the "marinated tomatoes" where simply cheery tomatoes cut in half. When I asked where the marinated tomatoes were I was told they were tossed in the cucumber sauce first and that's how they were marinated... I suggest the waiter looks up the definition of marinated before he tries to make another customer feel stupid. Having a strong background in hospitality I believe the situation could of been dealt with better and sometimes admitting that you have stuffed up and agree with the customer is the right thing to do rather than telling out right fibs and bluffing eg "marinated". The way ithe burger is described in the menu  is misleading and if I wasn't so damn hungry I would've demanded a refund. It's a shame as the staff are lovely and the  burger still tasted good but it was incorrectly advertised and for what it was - very overpriced. Won't be returning.

What a great find!!  Busy place on a Tuesday with bogo pizza and pasta and an extensive beverage list. Had nice service and  wonderful food. Flatbreads in particular were great and coffee was perfect. Sit outside and enjoy the fresh air.
