Story

Lyrical and poetic painter John Olsen is the inspiration for The Olsen.

Regarded as Australia’s greatest living painter, Dr John Olsen is best known for his lively paintings, in particular his work depicting central Australia and Lake Eyre. He is a master at water colours and etchings of all things great and small.

Love staying at the olsen. The staff are really great always friendly and very helpful. John Olsen paintings are everywhere and gives the place a great vibe. Rooms are functional, beds comfy and lots of places to eat close by. Stay here often for work and never had a bad experience.

Awesome hotel - can’t wait to come back next time we’re in Melbourne. I stay in A LOT of hotels and you really begin noticing what’s missing...not nessecarily what’s there. Things like power outlets in helpful locations, affordable parking, an inexpensive Minibar, nice bedding and easy check in/check out. The Olsen nails everything. It’s probably the best hotel in Melbourne.

I have been going to Norbu at the Olsen for infrared saunas. The facility is clean, private and relaxing and the girls there are wonderful. They offer a range of other services too which I am keen to try and are reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend for a relaxing pamper experience.

Location is great. Close to training. Station and two stops from Cbd with very frequent service. Lots of restaurants and shops in the local area. Hotel restaurant good quality but limited selection. Room comfortable with basic cooking g facilities provided which is ideal for a longer stay. Pool is ok but not heated and the sun deck was closed during my stay so not much space to relax buy the pool.

Best value hotel in Melbourne. Great location, staff who actually enjoy their job... Friendly , helpful...should be very proud of the work they do. If im staying in Melbourne, its the Olsen every time.
