Story

Local Miramar resident Jacob Brown (ex- Boulcott Bistro and Tabou in Sydney) is the chef and co-owner of local eatery The Larder. The vision of The Larder is to service the community with fine, honest food in a relaxed neighbourhood surrounding. We aim to provide warm and friendly service that is at the same time both professional and knowledgable.

At The Larder we work passionately to establish and maintain close personal relationships with our growers and suppliers. We endeavour to source food locally and directly from the farmer. We believe that as well as supporting small local business, it also results in produce that has wonderful flavour and integrity. Our menu therefore is produce driven and directly reflective of the seasons.

We were in the area for the Weta tours and popped in to grab a quick bite prior, and it was so good we went back for lunch. I don’t have photos from brekkie because that was very quickly swallowed, but here were a few from lunch. Would’ve loved to go back for another meal if we could but too bad we were moving on today! Service was friendly and very helpful as well, though they do tend to get pretty crowded during peak times so you may have a bit of a wait. The only thing I didn’t quite like were that the coffees were a little on the sour side, but I just needed a bit of juice to jumpstart the morning engine so it was not trouble to me.
Delicious food, great coffee and to die for sweet treats. Potato rosti was nice and crispy.
A great little spot to eat after Weta Workshop. They also did the best 'Wellington on a plate' burger.
Vibrant, well populated local restaurant with a good feel being inside an original house. Good dining inside and out on a good day. A good selection of very good food. Wheelchair accessibility: Good accessibility and welcoming and accommodating staff.
Good food and welcoming atmosphere. Worth traveling for from Lower Hutt.
Likely one of Wellingtons better seasonal food restaurants for fine dining. Have eaten here on five occassions and each time has been an excellent experience. The ambiance and staff are excellent and pricing reasonable for the food quality level
Service was friendly. Slightly disappointed with cup size "large coffee" comes in mediums sized cup; there should be a bowl option, no wifi for customers and a bit cold this morning. Poached eggs on toast didn't require great cooking skills but excelled in its simplicity.Food: 4/5
We went to The Larder because I'd had a pleasant meal there a while ago. Our experience yesterday however, was totally different. The place was about half full; it was after 2.00pm. We were seated and presented with a glass of tepid tap water; so far, so good. Then totally ignored for more than 20 minutes, despite a number of staff busying themselves tidying tables, glasses and tending to patrons at adjoining tables. We might as well have been invisible. So we left to plaintive words of 'we can take your order now'. Sadly, the moment had passed and the opportunity is unlikely to re-present itself again, ever. Very sad really, as the menu looked good.
It's an amazing breakfast place, just within working distance if you are visiting the Weta Cave. The food was delicious with beautiful plating. The staff there was really nice and helpful. We had a great time visiting. Definitely recommend.
Stunningly excellent food. What a treat! Superb. Great corner cafe vibe and amazing selection of delicious dishes and pastries.Food: 5/5
