Story

The Green Centre has been supplying residential, landscaping and commercial customers with quality organic garden supplies across Melbourne for over 15 years.

Established in 1993 The Green Centre was one of Melbourne's first green waste recycling depots, pioneering the diversion of green waste from landfill and closing the loop back to the community. Over this time the company has expanded into blending a range of quality Sir Walter grass, firewood, and garden soil products.

By speeding up traditional composting methods, The Green Centre is able to produce a high standard of garden mulch, essential during drought times, as well as 'dig in compost' for reviving old gardens or used as a blending agent in our range of premium soils.

As well as Organic Soils, Mulch and Compost, The Green Centre is able to provide you with a range of toppings,Composted Cow Manure and Crushed Rock. With our fleet of trucks and experienced sales team we are ready to service any projects from 1 to 10,000 meters.

Really good firewood, burns brilliantly giving out good heat. Only caveat, if you are not able to do some splitting then order the double split firewood. Some of the logs can be too big... Not for me, the large, hard to split logs I put on the fire at bed time on those really cold nights and it often is still smouldering in the morning.

Let me start with the POSITIVES: very friendly staff, prompt delivery, fantastic billing system via email (great if you need invoices for your business) and a seamless process. HOWEVER Not usually one to write poor reviews, alas very disappointed with the product I received from The Green Centre. Moved into the local area in November and was keen to get the summer veg in. Ordered 2 metres of the 'Veggie Mix' soil at $70 per metre. The soil I received was incredibly dry and dusty, and it repelled water. Since then (6 months later), I have spent at least another 60 dollars on composts, manures, and soil wetting agents, but the soil is still of a very poor quality. Before next summer I will have to replace the soil. In hindsight, I should have visited The Green Centre and inspected the soil before buying.

Great value green waste disposal, pleasant staff, can't go wrong using these guys. Saved me when doing a decent sized job with my cage trailer in Glenroy (outside my usual zone), the short trip on the Ring Road from the job site was well worth it and let me finish the job that day as promised. Thanks and keep up the great service and fair pricing!

I’ve ordering my firewood from The Green Centre since 2013 for 3 good reasons: competitive price, excellent customer service and consistent quality. Friendly staff and timely delivery are a bonus. Don’t look further, highly recommended.
