Authentic Australian Woodfired pizza goes well with craft beer, local wines and Italian favourites. There's always a few pasta's and salads to choose from off the restaurant menu. The other store at 1771 Sturt St, Alfredton has a slightly different menu.

Story

Our grandfather Frank was a hard working Blacksmith in the Ballarat region, and at the heart of a Blacksmith’s shop is a fire they call the Forge. With a combination of the fire, great skill and plenty of hard work, great things are created. Take a look at our wood fire oven and you’ll know why we are “The Forge”.

The food served by The Forge is designed to be enjoyed by family and friends through sharing in a traditional Italian style, allowing all the opportunity to taste a variety of dishes. A selection of options have been created to meet individual requirements. Our selections represent our finest quality foods, with ingredients and produce purchased locally from our suppliers, to help you enjoy our regions best food.

Yes this place is good. Good food quality. Good service. It's huge, so not a cosy place, good for groups of friends and family friends. Hustle bustle probably do double triple covers most nights with some customers having to wait for a table on occasion. Not cheap but the price is justified against the quality and portions. I'd go back.

When my partner suggested gourmet pizza, my eyes rolled back so far in my head the whites could be seen reflecting from orbit. In Melbourne, we have many self-titled gourmet pizzeria's with nothing but empty adjectives to show for traumatic dining experiences, involving toppings that slide off the base and enough oil to power a small nation. 

Apparently, all the quality ingredients have found their way to Ballarat, and my skepticism was blasted away by the Pork Belly and Blacksmith pizzas. They'll cost you around $25 ea but they're well worth it. Add in friendly service and a great ambience for an easy choice out.

Great pizza. Best gourmet pizza I have had in a long time. If you in Ballarat you need to try this pizza. 
Customer service is good, but had to wait awhile to be served originally, but he apologised for the wait.
Nice to see support to other local companies by having local beer on tap.
Highly recommended and will be back.

Great atmosphere, great service, yummy food, pizzas are excellent, and so are desserts. Lovely staff. Been here multiple times and will come back again! Great experience every time. Oh and they have Hepburn organic soft drinks 👌

Always great.  Nice atmosphere and look there are both small and large (potentially shareable) tables.  Excellent wood fired pizzas (shearers is soooo good).  This is the place to take friends ... vegetarian options are excellent and service is way above average.  A small error made once by waiting  staff was addressed so impressively that they turned my group from a potential complaint  into a group of advocates.... very very impressed.
