Three of us dined for lunch at the Edinburgh Hotel on the 12th of September. One of us had the kangaroo and myself and another friend had the chicken schnitzel. To be honest we were disappointed with the chicken schnitzel. No longer is the hotel appearing to make their own but buying in ready made portion controlled schnitzel that appears just to be cooked on a grill rather than deep fried. The inevitable little salad was ok but edible as was the chips. A bit disappointing that the hotel is choosing to cheapen down one of the meals that is probably ordered 60% of the time. I think we would rather prefer a pub that makes its own schnitzels rather than buying in portion controlled pre-crumbed ones. You can easily tell from the images that these schnitzels are not cooked in the conventional way and are a bit too neat and well crumbed to be done in house. Very disappointing. Shared entrees of garlic bread and dips & warmed naan bread were fine. If we go back anytime soon, we definitely won't be ordering the schnitzels. We prefer something a bit more rustic rather than made in a factory.
Always celebrate my birthday here. The food is always outstanding! Chicken caesar salad is the best on the planet!
I chose this pub over a local Italian expecting the food to be better. My friend and I were quite disappointed in the daily prawn and crab pasta special. First of all the pasta was that poor quality dried penne. Penne is not a good partner for seafood. Spaghetti is better. The prawns still had shell on the tail, so we had to pick them up in our fingers, to bite off the shell, but they’re covered in sauce. The tomato sauce had a rather unpleasant flavour. We asked for Parmesan as I kept adding salt to give it a lift. The Parmesan arrived as thick slices which we then had to crumble on top of the pasta. Was there no grated Parmesan? It felt like a dish from a Year 8 Food Tech class: simplistic, cheap and amateurish misrepresented with trumped up expectations as “special” and $34.00. Excuse me!
Lovely place for a wholesome meal with lively people over a drink perhaps, loved Theo chicken schnitzel while it was one of the cheaper meals it was insanely good warm, flavorful, generously portioned. People were also very nice. All in all even though a bit pricey it was worth considering the venue and atmosphere and quality
Venue is comfortable and presented nicely. Menu selection is fairly standard. Few items on menu were unavailable.nnOverall food was good.nn-1 Attention to details.nnService could be better. Mostly young inexperienced? staff. Basic oversights like bringing out entrees with mains, drinks missing garnish, table not cleared for dessert.
