The Dolar Shop offers individual hotpots so everyone gets to pick their favourite soup base. I opted for the signature Exquisite Silver Soup, a chicken broth and pig offal combination. It was delicious, with no funky flavours despite the generous amount of offal. Ingredients were fresh and they apparently slice meats to order. It's also worth paying additional for the condiments bar where there's free flow of some savoury snacks, fruits and soft serve ice cream. One of the nicest hotpot places I've been to, in terms of ambience, service and food.
Hands down the best hotpot I’ve ever had. The silver soup is definitely a must try. An amazing pot of soup for hotpot! The beef and lamb were extremely good quality and fresh. They were really generous with the vegetable platter as well. The main event was the noodles for me, it goes perfectly well with the soup and other ingredients. This place also has a great variety of sauces available and also fruits. Not forgetting the ice cream for dessert at the end of your meal. Would definitely recommend this place and be back again. Not forgetting the amazing service from the waiter! The only thing to note is that this place is a tad bit pricey, but most hotpot places are priced similarly as well.
Fantastic, but expensive place for hotpot. Individual hotpot is good when going with people inexperienced with hotpot to avoid frustration. We got a variety of ingredients, including lamb, Australian Wagyu, Deep Fried Tofu Skin, and other hotpot classics. All were excellent and so was the silver broth. There is a good variety of condiments and they also give you a bowl of their signature hotpot condiments. Service was very good, staff were very detailed, always made sure water bottle was full and cleared dishes quickly. At the end you get an ice cream. Great place for those experienced and beginner at hotpot alike.
A hot pot restaurant conveniently located at the top of Market City, Dolar Shop stands strong against the competition around the CBD. Environment feels clean and staff are attentive. There is a variety of sauces to choose from, and the meats are good cuts - perfect for hot pot. Also recommend commend the beef balls and prawn paste. The broth is also good flavoured and have a bit of depth. A shame that the ice cream machine keeps on malfunctioning, as the soft serve were good before as well! Recommend!
Great variety of broth. The two broths we tried were both amazing. Efficient service. Good portion. Clean environment. Would love to see more options on veggies. And would definitely appreciate their cultural sensitivity if the servers did not assume all asian looking people speak mandarin. PS highly recommend their fried tofu!!!!!
Nice service, attentive staff, fresh ingredients, delicious broth! Honestly a very top notch hotpot place with delicious food, I would say the food tastes top notch. The only downside was that they did not have lamb which is a classic for hotpot, I don’t understand how they could sell out of lamb. You also get some desserts and icecream for free. The silver soup was so good, I would even say it’s the best I’ve had. We spent $600 for 7 adults and 2 children which is on the pricier side for hotpot. There is an happy hour where you get 30% off if you dine after 9pm which is worth it if you are out for a late night.
The broths were delicious, and each of us had our own hotpot. The cost of a bowl of vegetables was $28.80, and the cost of six pieces of fish was $28.80. About $70 was charged for a 300g beef plater. You also get charged for the salad and sauce. Food was fresh, but expensive. After the meal, we still feel hungry, even though we have spent about $70 per head. Only food cost, we did not even order drinks. The price you pay is not equal to quality and quantity. Not value for money. I won't come back.
One of the best hotpot experiences I have had. I enjoyed the chicken based Silver soup base. The is a good selection of meat cuts and condiment stations. You even get self serve fruits and an ox tongue cold dish. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and attentive. I dont like the ultra low tables though, becareful if you are over 6’. At the end of the meal the waiter even gave us some softserve cones. On the pricing side many have commented it is more expensive. I think if you stick to the wagyu the margins are comparable to other hotpot places. Their wagyu is actually pretty good quality too. The more common side dishes do appear to have higher markup when it is the same quality/serving size.
Good Chinese hot pot restaurant. The special sauce is so nice, taste a bit salty with a bit sour and a bit sweet, also they put some chili and coriander inside. Which is shown on third image in the middle. You can also get a free ice cream.
One of the more premium hotpot places in Sydney. You definitely get what you pay for, great service, fresh ingredients, complimentary ice cream at the end. Key highlights to order - fresh pork belly thicker cuts that were so fresh and special dolar shop shrimp pate were probably the best things available. The premium beef wasn’t worth it, I would go for the normal options as it’s hard to tell once dunked in the soup. For soups I ordered the truffle mushroom but the truffle aroma vanished pretty quickly. Exquisite golden pork bone or silver are also good options to get. Sauce, appetisers and fruit is $4.90pp, but you can definitely put the salad included here into the soup for some extra greens! Highly recommend if looking for a premium hotpot experience we ended up paying $100+pp so it’s on the high end.
