I absolutely love this place. Some of the best coffee I have found this side of town. Consistently great service and quality coffee, never burnt milk or poor tasting. Highly recommended

The staff were rude and disinterested and also extremely clumsy. Late order and no apology! Inmature staff!

I really enjoy a coffee from Emporium Southland. I usually recommend the coffee to anyone going to Southland. Unfortunately over the past three weeks I have had the most bizarre experiences at the store. Each time I order my coffee, same size and strength latte each time, I have been given something quite different to my order. On the first occasion I thought I must not have spoken up enough ( the store is quite noisy) where you order is very close to where the coffee grinder is used. The staff members seem to have difficulty hearing the orders correctly. I have been given a small when I ordered tall, so I changed my way of ordering and asked for large take away, and on the second occasion again a small latte, so on the third occasion I asked for take away large latte, and was given a latte in a glass ( not take away, unless they want me to steal the glass)
Initially I thought this was a simple mistake, but for it to happen on three consecutive occasions had made me think I will pass on coffee at emporium in future. On a couple of occasions I have had my 88 year old mother with me, I especially ask for a take away cup as she struggles with the weight of the ceramic mugs and cups.
I'm trying to point out that I am quite specific with my order and I have started to speak louder so that there are no mix ups. Each time the wrong order has been delivered to me, I have explained that my order was different to what I have been served. Each time the staff member informs me that I have to pay $1 to upsize my order. (Today I had no cash, and had paid by card, I was expected to pay $1 using my card to upsize my order. ) I am baffled as I don't get a receipt so I have no proof of what I have been charged for.
Today I was told by the staff member that they were " very busy" and I agree that they were, but that is not the reason for an incorrect order.
Either the store is understaffed and the staff members are stressed, or the store is way to noisy, or there is a " don't really care" attitude happening.
I have worked in hospitality and I understand how difficult people are, but I am making my concerns known after the third time I have received poor service, I have been patient, I have accepted the wrong order on one occasion as it was difficult for me to wait longer ( having my elderly mother with me)
Please have a look at this store, send in a secret shopper...on a Saturday a busy day. I did overhear a very similar scenario to mine at the table next to me this afternoon, so I know it was not just the way I ordered.
As is said I did enjoy a coffee at Emporium but now I feel it is not worth the hassle.

Ordered 2 lattes and a banana bread & the three items came out separately at approx 3 minute intervals
Just a hint guys - when someone places an order like this it should all come out together so you can enjoy your coffee & cake with the person you're dining with.
