I'd only been here once before, back in 2016, and thought to try it again. I wish I'd done so earlier, because it was soooo incredibly good and delicious. Honestly, the food is great. The food takes a little bit of time to come out even during non peak times, but the actual service is very good and they're attentive and the meals all came out at the same time, which is almost unheard of in many Chinese restaurants that I've been to. They even give you delicious sugar cookies at the end of the meal. They could definitely stand to freshen up and modernise the decor and repaint the dirty and old shabby looking walls, but overall that's really about the only complaint. Everything we ate, we loved and I'll definitely be coming back again.
10/10 for service. I had all vegetarian options which were very delicious. My guests had non vegetarian veterinary which looked really nice
Best traditional Cantonese style food. Same dishes I had 30 years ago.
The best roast duck I've eaten all year. And the person who ordered the pork with mandarin sauce said it was the best pork he'd had this year. We used to love the city restaurant, so we tried this one. The service is not the same discrete excellence, but is nothing to complain about. The wine list is great. And the food is top notch.Food: 5/5
We ordered takeaway online on Mother’s Day, as soon as we placed the order, we received a phone call from a lady and informed us the pick up time will be delayed for 30min. We really appreciate her call so that we don’t have to wait at the restaurant to pick up the food. This small action shows the restaurant takes every customer seriously. The food is hot and delicious when we picked up, the lady at the counter kept apologizing for the delay. We can fully understand it’s Mother’s Day. Thumps up for the service and responsible staff at Tea House on Burke!
Amazing restaurant, very personal service, and you'll be looked after. Shoutout to Dennis
Once great, now very tired. Yet still very expensive. For example, $30 for a plate of beige, limp stir fried vegetables. Eye fillet was tough ! and came in a 'hot and spicy' sauce that had no heat - it's what would have passed for spicy in the 80s. Some good things: Pork in mandarin sauce was tasty. Service was attentive. But at $400 for 5 people only one person had alcohol, there are so many better options. Won't return.
I come here quite regularly and have always been impressed with the high quality of food served here. Portion size is generous and a variety of chinese/cantonese delicacies to experience. Often a welcoming experience from the lady at the front counter. Would definitely recommend!
This is the traditional Chinese where one is served in style. And I mean that the puts fried rice on your plate with spoon and fork. The food is of the style that I remember of years ago. Lemon chicken that tastes of real lemons. Satay beef that is old style Chinese with aroma and flavour. San Choi Bow was so delicious that one wonders how the chef can infuse a delicacy as well as flavour burst. I loved it! I need come back to taste the XO sauce dishes. I reckon it will be great!
Probably, the worst Chinese restaurant we have been. We booked a table of 5 we were met with grumpy old staff who seemed annoyed that we were there. They didn't have some items on the menu only told when we we ordering. The food was just layers of oil it was all terrible. The service was cold, rude and impersonal. We spent $75 each for bad quality food. I let them know my thoughts but was met with a blank look and no outcome. They only are busy as they have a over 70's bunch of customers who are not the biggest critics of food quality. I got a feeling its the beginning of the end for this place.
