We've spent a week on holiday eating out at mainly Asian places. For dinner, we had decided we needed to go beyond Vietnamese, Korean and Indian, we had to go to our own roots, so we went to Taste of China. We started with some pan-fried pork dumplings and then had three big dishes. A FNQ mud crab steamed with garlic, ginger and shallots, deep fried boneless duck, and lemon chicken with crispy skin. The service was a little slow. The rice didn't arrive at all. The price of the mud crab was unexpectedly very high. My bad, I should have checked before confirming that I wanted it. The duck was good as was the chicken. The crab tasted good but there wasn't a lot of meat. To be fair, July is not mud crab season. One of the claws was small. I guess this crab had a fight early in its life and threw a claw. We decided to take matters into our own hands for dessert and bought a tub of ice cream from Woolworths next store.
The worst restaurant ever!!!! I wouldn't send my worst enemy to this place to eat!!! The food was ordinary and they miscalculated the bill and tried to over charge us. The hand written bill had a couple of incorrect item - they charged us 4 beers when we only order 3. The total bill was overcharged by $15 and took 3-4 people to add up. And we never got an apology , all we got was a $5 off the bill.... Word of advise owner -STOP RIPPING PEOPLE OFF!!!

We ordered salmon and it's good. The unfortunate thing is that they provide terrible customer service. Cairns is supposed to be a beautiful and multicutural city. Any person regardless of race should be treated equally. We were Asian not Chinese and seated next to Caucasian customers. The service was fast for them and were asked a few times if everything is fine. We waited and had to inquire many times for our needs. It's a depressing experience. I hope that this will not happen to other customers.
DO NOT EAT AT THIS TRASH HOLE. THE SERVICE IS EXTREMELY EXTREMELY POOR AND RUDE AND THE MANAGER LADY DARED TO CHEAT US AND OVERCHARGE US AN EXTRA 6 SERVINGS OF RICE$18. She even DARED to yell at us when we asked her to calculate again because the price was overwritten. I read on a previous review that this place overcharges you on purpose and I was extremely cautious to calculate everything. She calculates on her stupid little calculator extremely fast in front of you so you don't see the prices. She also charges $2 extra for each person for Chinese teaChinese tea is always complimentary in Chinese restaurants in Australia. The food is EXTREMELY EXTREMELY OVERPRICED. Although the food tasted decent, I will never eat here again. Unless you want to be ripped off, cheated and give the stinking manager some more coinsor rather $100 dollar notes then you best avoid this place.
So bad that I'm actually taking the time to write a review about it. The food is ok, the prices are way too high, but the service is horrible. NEVER GO HERE THIS PLACE SUCKS ASS AND I'M NOT KIDDING THEY WILL TRY TO RIP YOU OFF AND SMILE WHILE DOING IT. If I could rate lower than 1 star I would.
First time we tried croc and roo meat and they cooked it well! Portions are on the smaller side but the food was tasty and the service was pretty good!
Very sad to see the live fish/crab crammed in tiny tanks with the fish all with scarring on the face, yes they are there to be eaten but it is unnessary cruelty, tried to take it up with staff but they think it's ok. Shame
Awesome have been there 4 times in 10 days while in Cairns on holiday. Best food and service in all of Cairns. Highly recommend
Bad hospitality services, won't greet customer when we come in.
