Very clean, comfortable, and friendly!! The bathrooms were impeccably clean and tidy. I loved the cute decor rainbow tile in the bathroom and handmade art on the walls. Also had great little touches like a clothing swap bin and hammocks hanging from the tree outside. The private double was the perfect amount of space and privacy for my husband and me.
The hostel had a really great atmosphere, the staff was very friendly. There was always some type of dessert with ice cream at 8pm which was delicious. The rooms, bathrooms and kitchen were clean. The wifi was good as well. The outside area with hammocks was also really enjoyable.
An amazing hostel with wonderful staff and really easy to make friends. The rooms are really cute with nice comfy bed. They do recycling as well. And really nice living roomRooms: 5/5
Room is big, showers and kitchen are clean and the staff is friendly. HOWEVER there was no heating in the room and the temp outside was ~0 degrees, so I was freezing for two nights. They do offer extra public blankets and hot water bottles which I had of my own but it's really not enough when it's so cold. Also only one bed had a aocket next to it.
I felt incredibly welcomed at the tasman bay backpackers. You are bound to make a friend or two here- it is very clean, and in a great location. If you are looking to get to Able Tasman by bus or shuttle, ask the staff!

What a great place to stay, great location - walked to the Markets & Botanical Hill.. Chocolate Pudding was a treat..Rooms: 5/5
The best hostel I’ve stayed. Came for a week and stayed 3 months at the end and then came back 3 times after I moved away. 10 minutes walk to the town, you can borrow a bike for free, hot hot showers... The chocolate pudding is an awesome treat! It’s a small family vibe hostel where is no problem to find new friends possibly for life! or you can read a book in armchair by fireplace... Awesome friendly team working there, specially Fran! Thank you TBB for making Nelson unforgettable place...
