Get. A. Bagel.nnI went here recently was friends, it was extremely busy although with the large seating area outside the time didn’t take too long to get the food. It’s fun people watching while eating and having breakfast and the coffees were quite good. I recommend visiting and I’ll definitely come again.
A quick stop in on the way home did not happen! Instead we had a leisurely lunch of delicious bagels, fresh old fashioned lemonade and smoothie and sneaked a takeaway cruller to take home. I cannot rate the food, service and atmosphere high enough. We'll be back again!
Tarte used to be my go-to brunch spot every month. It was so easy to swap ingredients to make dishes vegan, and the quality of food and location were unbeatable. But lately, it’s been such a letdown. They’ve stopped offering great vegan options like the chocolate hazelnut cake, and the mushroom tartine has gone from a generous, flavourful, exotic dish to 1 dry piece of toast with plain button mushrooms—such a joke.nnTo make it worse, they now refuse ingredient swaps, probably because they’re too busy. And the service? Yikes. Today at the takeaway corner, the cashier ignored me for ages, and when another staff member grabbed the last baguette for the inside line, I asked about it and got laughed at! It’s such a shame because Tarte had so much potential, but it feels like they’ve stopped caring.
This is the second time we come to Tarte hoping it would be better than the first it wasn't. We both ordered iced lattes which came with 250ml of milk, 5 ice cubes each and ofc the coffee. By the time I was halfway through, the ice had melted and I was drinking warm milk haha. My food tasted fine you can't go wrong with stuff on top of a bagel and it came with A LOT of salmon which was amazing, but the bagel was so rough. I couldn't bite it or cut it without asking for a sharper knife it was still hard to cut anyways. The other thing we ordered was the Turkish eggs, that sounded really good but tasted like oil. I know it says it comes with butter and Greek yogurt, however the taste was just oily food. I couldn't eat it. The picture is from before we left, unfortunately I don't have a before picture. Overall experience: I won't be having a third one.
Tarte is a beautiful place to be! My partner and I went there on a Monday and it was a love at first sight! Some of my favourite things about this place is the charming, rustic feel with fresh produce displays and a modern, cozy, and inviting design. The staffs are very friendly and the service was quick. We ordered two oat lattés, a slice of cheese cake, one NZ smoked Salmon NY Bagel and a beef brisket NY bagel. Everything was delightful except for the bagels which were slightly tough but we're definitely coming back!
