Visiting the valley, we wanted somewhere close by that wasn't fine dining with a high price, and this was great. Short drive from our accommodation and easy enough to find. Plenty of parking right outside, lots of classic menu options and roast of the day was delicious! Fairly priced and didn't wait very long for our meals. Staff were friendly and prompt, meal sizes were decent, would come here again for sure.
Ordered a medium steak, salad and chips for $36 dollars, first was given the wrong steak which was well done, wrong sauce and no salad. Then got the right steak which was far past medium, chewy and just had 0 flavour. Salad didn't have any dressing either. For 36$ you would hope you can at least get a steak cooked to your request. Schnitzel was ordered too for 26$ and the vegetables tasted like out of a bag, the schnitzel was dry and only tasted somewhat alright doused in mushroom sauce. Would not recommend the league's club in Cessnock.
Staff were all friendly, polite and accommodating, dinning room was ok and relatively clean. Food was well priced/cheap. It's worth signing up as a member even if your an out of towner/area. Food was not the best tasting but quality vs cost matches overall not bad for a cheap feed but if your looking for similar but nicer quality Vincent St is a better option
Food quality there worth the prices you paid! The most important thing is it is a super family friendly place to dine in. Not only the facilities and space there but also the staff there are really concern on their guests and experience. I went there couple of times and the recent visit on two months ago was impressive. I was having difficulty to find my family of 6 a proper place to have lunch during one of the busy weekend and I ended up coming there but was told the Bistro is fully booked. I was about to leave but the receptionist I hope I got her name was a hero to us told me to wait and helped us double checked on the tables and found us a table. Her extra effort actually did change our day from bad to super lucky. Much appreciated and well done!
The food was delicious but a particular staff member seemed annoyed or maybe just having a bad day but it's still a great place to have a meal and drink with friends and family. Even kid friendly with a playground. Will definitely come back.
Best food at great low prices in Cessnock. Everything on the menu is amazing, you won't be disappointed. Plenty of parking and wheelchair access is more than ample.
Incredibly disappointing. Food order was mixed up by staff causing a forty minute delay. No local wines by the glass which is amazing being in the middle of the hunter wine country. Not sure we are going back...
The club management needs to have a good look at what's happening at the coal face. Twice we have been there and have found staff, that obviously don't want to be there, snappy, not happy staff, that treated us like it was a chore to serve us and make us feel we shouldn't be there. Well after today we won't be back. Last time we were there won a $25 club card at the raffle, today we ordered a Garlic Prawn Pizza $27.50 had the $2.50 extra to pay and were told the card would cover it, we got the Garlic Pizza, which was like the Garlic Bread not Garlic Prawn, valued at $15 not happy by we wore it, thinking there must be $10 left on the card to be ubruptly told you've used that, so with that we left never to return. The only reason you get 2 stars, was the lovely receptionist you had on today. So much for hospitality, there are plenty of great places in Cessnock just not the Goanna's...
We had a very late lunch and ordered a pizza, my wife has allergies and we did not realise that it contained chilli our mistake. Thank you to the lovely staff who went out of their way to supply something for my wife to eat. Much appreciated.
Fantastic food. Food was brought to your table. I love that. I hate the buzzer and collecting food. This place made our night. We had visited the Hunter valley gardens Christmas lights, very disappointed and couldn't get food unless we lined up for 15mins then 15min to cook very ordinary food. We decided to leave the decrepit old lights and seek food in cessnock. We went to the leagues club for tea, our 3.5 yr son had the best time in the play area he didn't want to leave. We had a lovely meal, lovely staff. Nice music. Why did we ever wast money at the gardens Christmas light's when our son had so much fun at the leagues club. Thankyou to all the staff for turning our disastrous night into a great night. Can't rate this place high enough.
