Amongst Sydney's Best Restaurants

Story

Whether it’s a leisurely lunch or swift business meeting, the inviting and intimate environment will certainly not disappoint. The stylish modern interior is only outdone by the stunning views.

Summer Salt’s cuisine can be best described as ‘East meets West’, Contemporary Australian enhanced with Asian Flavours. Executive Chef and Owner Carl Jensen is no stranger to the ‘Shire’ and has been serving up his best Australian produce for over 20 years.

Sommelier, Noel Sorrenti, has a great deal of experience with wines from all over the world, including France, where he is originally from. Noel loves his wine and suggesting what will go best with your chosen meal.

Summer Salt is one of only two restaurants in Sydney that serve Grade 9 Wagyu Beef. This is a must-try! As well as the Chef's Signature Dish, Roast Duck. There's also a fantastic Seafood Plate for One (delicious!) Visit our website to check out the full menu.

Our Chef's Market Menu is GREAT VALUE at 2 courses for $45 and 3 courses for $55.

My feelings are a bit mixed, but I still gave 5 stars. Pros: - brilliant service. The staff were friendly and met our every need in a timely manner. In fact, the staff really made my experience. - view from windows was a spectacular seascape. - the atmosphere was sophisticated yet relaxed Cons: - small servings compared to other places and you have to order your sides at extra cost. Would love to see more generosity in future. - the food was expensive in that I did not feel the quality was commensurate with the price i.e. my steak was tough. Probably paying for the view which is worth it. All this said, I did actually have a really lovely evening here and I will definitely come again.
I attended a birthday lunch here and everything was amazing! My partner and I tried each other's meals as a little taste test and every dish was simply delicious. The view alone is worth the visit! Would love to try this again in the future.
Good food, great service. What I like about Summer Salt is how they put their own twist on traditional seafood dishes, plus others. It's always worth checking their menu regularly as they change it up and keep it fresh. Plenty of accessible parking with accessible entrance. Hot and Cold Seafood platter, a 10/10 yum!
Dined here last Thursday and had a wonderful last evening with our American family members leaving the next day. The staff were super accommodating at moving our group to another table as there was a very large birthday party going on in the corner and it with our group size it was abit hard to hear other talking. Really appreciated this as it was our last chance to talk to each other. They were also able to grill the local fish one of our visitors loves. Drinks and food were all excellant and always the view.
Window seatings have spectacular views of of the beach. Service was pretty good and staff were quite friendly. Food was delicious although it was on the pricey side.
The location of Summer Salt is phenomenal, directly on the beach! We had dinner and we’re fortunate enough to have a table by the window so we watched the sun set!! The food was very good, reasonably priced, service was incredibly friendly and pleasant. We’ve been to Summer Salt a few times now and enjoy it more each time.
1. The view is lovely 2. The staff are lovely 3. Entree oysters came with the main platter 4. The bread I ordered did not come at all 5. The prawns were well over cooked 6. The lobster was well over cooked 7. The octopus was tough and flavourless 8. The chips were great 9. The snapper was great 10. The squid was amongst the best I've had All up the overcooked lobster and prawns are inexcusable. The entree timing and no bread as ordered is pretty bad.
My top favourite “designer” food with a view in Sydney. My friends took me there early November 2022 overdue review for my birthday celebration and I became obsessed with everything about this place: anything on the menu is just yummy, amazing view and very friendly/ attentive staff. My personal favourite dishes: - Carl’s signature duck I keep going back for it - Angus Rump with gnocchi - Squid with mango, mint & labneh entrée - Salmon sashimi entrée - Banana pudding dessert - Strawberry Soufflé dessert A big Thank You to the lovely staff: Samantha the manager, Georgie & Liz. Another big Thank You to Carl owner and designer chef for coming up with the epic flavorous menu. Unique combination of flavours that creates a party in my mouth. Looking forward to meeting you one day
The worst restaurant I ever have been! Booked 20 pp for family gathering, but the main didn’t come till 10PM! Only 5 choices for main, so it couldn’t be hard. Even Half of the restaurant was clear at that moment, no staff came out to explain or communicate. Pork belly was not crispy but sticky. And the cod was just like smashed potatoes when my knife touched it. I felt glad I didn’t listen to the staff’s advice to let my two kids share one plate of pork belly, as my cod plate was just as little as Entrée! My kids’ plates could be shared so I didn’t starve. We felt it unbelievable that pieces of carrots mixed with some sesames made it as a dish, as well as lettuce coated with some sauce. Oysters were as tiny as sesame.
Really the best fine dining that we've experienced in the Shire. We have the scollops and ravioli for entree, both were lovely. The duck & seafood curry were amazing for main. Dessert was the only let down.. the soufle tasted like scrambled eggs .. I still gave a 5 star overall, as the rest of the food was amazing - I just wouldn't order the soufle again.
