What a great initiative by the business to hire people who want to have hospitality experience. Initially we thought the service would be horrible but we are surprised by how friendly and fast the service is. The food was great too! The broth on the Udon noodle was tasty, light and perfect for cold weather. There is plenty of space indoors and outdoors. What a beautiful building and space! When we arrived it was a cold and gloomy, hence choosing to sit indoors, however given the chance, we would have definitely chosen to sit outside their cute courtyard. Coffee was on point that I also had one to takeaway. The Spanish eggs were delicious and cooked to perfection. I liked that they made their own bread and have a bakery on site too. Staff were also so welcoming and friendly. Glad to have found this little gem in Collingwood and would be back for sure.
I never really had brunch before but this place blew my expectations out of the water. I had the chickpea breakfast and it was perfect, so much attention to detail, lovely earthy flavours. The staff were attentive and friendly. The garden area they have is also really special. Give this place a try, you will not regret
Streat is excellent! The beautiful outside seating area was like a haven on a 32 degree day and while sipping on an exquisitely sweet squeezed orange juice I took in the fusion brunch menu. My partner and I decided on Son in Law eggs crumbed fried egg and the Streat Breakfasthave a look at the skillet dish in the photos. The 5 stars says it all. I capped off the indulgence with a Tiger Iced Coffee - condensed milk goodness and strong coffee that was just overindulgence after the food but I couldn't help it. We are gonna keep coming back Streat folk!
I use to frequent Streat as often as I could for breakfast in the past; and having been so close I decided to drop in for lunch... Luckily I booked ahead as getting a table here at lunchtime is difficult at times Instantly we were greeted by bright smiling staff at the front of house and swiftly escorted to the table where I ordered a beer and food... it didn't take long for the food to arrive and as expected the food was delicious the dobson potato gnocci dish was exceptional! so was the fried brussel sprout dish with okonomi sauce! the spinach and ricotta sausage roll was delicious but it could have been hotter ...the pan fried brussel sprouts japanese style - yum! did I forget the chips the service was impeccable, everything neat and tidy the atmosphere was as expected - laid back kudos to everyone at Streat for doing such great work with the less fortunate I recommend STREAT if you're in the Collingwood area Kid-friendliness: watched children play at the courtyard. Parking: parking is a struggle, search for car parks in advance Wheelchair accessibility: there is disabled parking at the front of the building
The streat breakfast was rather underwhelming, just lots of cheakpeas and tasted one-dimensional. The korean marinated grilled pork belly rice was a bit better, but all the banchan tasted the same i.e. highly acidic. Portion was quite filling.
Tucked away in this street is a little café haven that's worth telling your friends about. The menu isn't huge but there were so many exciting options it took us awhile to decide. We all chose something different but soon there was only silence punctured by exclamations of yums and oohs. My Son in Law eggs was a buffet for the taste buds, from the tart pickled veggies and mildly spicy chilli relish to the fluffy roti, sticky rice noodle and of course the sensational eggs themselves. My friends totally loved their pork croquettes, Japanese breakfast bowl and corn fritters - we were the clean plates table. The courtyard feels relaxed, like we were chilling in someone's beautiful backyard. The whole space felt airy, bright and inviting.Staff were super friendly and even let us split the bill. Not the first nor the last visit.
Loved the place ....its sooo cosy and soothing . .... Loved food we ordered. I had chicken65 n mango lassi...We sat outside ...beautifully decorated... Portion was perfect and very very tasty as well. The moment i came there decided to get my frnds. Great place...must go u wont b disappointed
Groovy garden setting but food was a bit of a let down. Pork belly was pretty dried out other component of the dish were goodFood: 3/5
The service was affable. My fritters & poached eggs were delicious, the grilled Brussel sprouts with ginger etc were also very nice. Our half strength coffee was just just a titch bland in flavour next time, full strength. But the outdoor setting is simply delightful. A real gem in the city. My companions also enjoyed their meals.
