Came with a friend for breakfast. Cinnamon roll French toast was absolutely fabulous. Chocolate mousse was very decadent and a real treat for any chocolate lover. Espresso martini was great, the only espresso martini I've ever actually enjoyed the taste of. We came early in the morning on a Wednesday so it was very quiet which was lovely. Pleasant view from our window table. Staff were very nice. Highly recommend.
Desserts great! Really outstanding. Personally not a fan of the duck hash dish and wouldn’t order it again. The flavors and textures just weren’t special. On the soggy side. Felt slightly like an afterthought dish, some shredded left over duck mixed into mash potato. Duck is usually a real treat but it was underwhelming. Side salad was lovely though. Would recommend all wait staff to try the duck hash for themselves.
Visited recently for dinner. Excellent service, but the meal itself was a little hit or miss. As my entree, I ordered the mushroom soup which was tasty but surprisingly heavy and a little bit heavy handed with the pepper. For dessert, I had the chocolate mousse. The mousse itself was fine, but the star of that dish was the ice cream in the thin biscuit. Those were something special. I’d recommend selling the ice cream and the biscuit as a separate lighter dessert option. Those two alone with the fresh mint would be a perfect dessert.
So so good!! Our Waiter was lovely and because I told him I am pregnant he made sure to tell me which deserts had alcohol which was appreciated. Food was absolutely bloody incredible and it came out really fast! I had the steak and the caramel hazelnut tart and they were both so good! Highly recommend and we will definitely be back!!
Lovely food for our last night in NZ. We enjoyed the fresh fish of the day, which was grouper and the duck confit as well as the prawns entrée. Food was delicious, though a tad salty. We particularly enjoyed the sides that came with the grouper - the oyster mushroom and sweet potato were phenomenal. We ended our meal with the moist chocolate cake with raspberry and thoroughly enjoyed that. Prices are slightly high but well worth it for a hearty meal. The experience would have been more pleasant if the staff were a little friendlier.
We came just for the desserts and they were all good but the creme brûlée was spectacular. Delicious and had a generous portion size, with a sesame flake and some berry coulis on the side that added interesting flavours. Our server was really lovely and attentive, they asked if we were celebrating anything and we got a happy birthday message written.
Ordered potato hash, Angus beef fillet and chef selected desserts. I had the perfectly cooked beef fillet and so far the best ONE I had in NZ much better than some fine dinning restaurants in 5 stars hotels in Auckland. The dessert plate was also good and tasty . Highly recommend to everyone!!
We had an early lunch with friends, the kids picked from the kids menu and we 2x mums shared delish eggs benedict with salmon, we asked and were given 2 plates, and then shared caramel and chocolate cake ... I had an iced chai vanilla latte which was lovely. The kids chose to have ice cream sandwiches which they devoured. The staff were very friendly and polite, and gave the kids coloring in to do straight away. We enjoyed our lunch today
We had mushroom soup, pea risotto and lamb ragu tonight. I really enjoy the size and creamy taste of the soup which is suitable with the crunchy side bread. We came for the sweets especially, however the berry pillow is just so-so....where hazelnut torte is full of flavour and sweetness. Plus, the environment is stunning as always.
Highly recommend the eye fillet. Also can't get enough of the garlic butter that came with the baguette for entree. Very friendly staff and service was excellent. You can see a bit of Hagley park from the restaurant but I am not a fan of the stairs to get there. There are seats on the ground floor too but only very limited. Kid-friendliness: They have kids menu and coloring page.
