Steam is an excellent place to get awesome service and delicious food. My partner and I couldn't have asked for anything better. We had the 9 course dinner with some cocktails. Thanks to the staff at steam for making our trip 5 stars!
Amazing. I wasn't expecting such amazing Asian fusion on the water like this. The banquet options are amazing for a sampling of everything from oysters and sashimi to pork belly and beef medallion. Attentive staff and nice atmosphere. Would return.
My partner and I had the vegan banquet option. An amazing assortment of vegan Asian fusion cuisine, delicious at every step, and great value for money. We were both stuffed by the end, and an amazing refreshing tapioca dessert as a finisher. Would recommend to anyone wanting a fine meal in the area. Further, the staff were under the pump, being short staffed, but all maintained a friendly and most professional demeanour. Thanks so much!
Really tough decision to edit my review of this place. Covid has been really hard for a lot of businesses down here. But menu at degustation only is very strange. Staff not into it anymore. Needs time to recoup. Really hope they can improve, but $200 for really average service I really think you’ll be disappointed. Food photos show there still some quality.
The food no doubt was tasty. The issue were the following: 1. Hospitality or the customer definitely needs some improvement. There was a waitress without a mask she definitely doesn't know to serve customers 2. We ordered food within the first 10 mins as we arrived. We got our first small plate after 20 mins and then wait for another 20-30 mins to get second small plate and same. The large main plate was served when I asked for the bill to pay to leave because I lost my appetite to get my main course after 2 hours when orderd. So have at least 2-3 hours before you actually get your mains served after ordering it.
This is such a gem of a restaurant in this area! Absolutely delicious modern Asian food with an amazing cocktail list to match. We went for the 9 course set menu and every course was generous, presented beautifully and above all tasted incredible. Such amazing flavours! We took our 2 young kids and whilst I think this restaurant is more appropriate for a date night or catch up with friends, we were made to feel very welcome with our kids and really well looked after. Must definitely book though as they get busy understandably but we will be back!
We have been coming to Steam for a number of years and they produce amazing meals. It was extremely busy however the chefs and staff made sure we got our meals in prompt but unhurried timeframe as we had a show to got to down the road. This is the place for the best fresh oysters and great Asian food.
Great birthday dinner with my wife and family. 8 course banquet. No weak dishes. Friendly warm service. Great food. Top work all round, eaten here a few times and I think this was the best one yet. Vegetarian options: Amazing vegan and dietary requirement options. Not just an afterthought great care and attention shown.
Was not expecting to find sashimi of this quality in Rye! By far the best restaurant in town. Highly recommend.
Took ourselves and kids to Steam for dinner while holidaying in Rye. We had such a great meal and the service was brilliant. They managed to overcome a chef shortage by offering set menu style. To accommodate the kids, there were extra options, which were also delicious. One particular staff member was outstanding and really made the night memorable for us. We will be back!
