Story

Stannards has been a feature of the WA business landscape since 1914.

Entirely locally owned, and operating solely from our unique premises at 173 Hay Street in Subiaco, our precision cleaning technology and unmatched customer service have earned us recommendations from some of the most renowned Australian and international fashion brands including Prada, Giorgio Armani, Hugo Boss, Scanlon Theodore, Alanna Hill, Tuscany Bridal and Donna Tobin Couture.

Throughout our nearly 100-year history, we’ve always remained at the forefront of cleaning technology, including becoming the first WA drycleaner to embrace clean earth technology.

We’ve also developed a deluxe hand cleaning technology to add to our range of cleaning services, along with a VIP delivery service at no additional charge.

While Stannards has grown to become Australia’s leading wedding dress and Couture gown cleaning service, and is trusted to clean more gowns than any other drycleaner in Australia, we’ll always ensure that all our customers receive the same, premium quality service we’ve offered every day since 1914!

I took my Pallas Couture wedding gown to Stannards years ago because of the reviews and claims of it being the best wedding dress dry cleaners in Perth. I paid a significant amount to have a wine stain removed and for it to be preserved in their special preservation boxes. I recently took the box out of the closet to have a look and the stain is more prominent then ever and the dress is all yellow. It was a bright white wedding dress! I paid extra for the preservation box to avoid this. Upon inspection, the preservation box is just a standard box with no seal and easy to open so not sure how it is supposed to even preserve it. Wish I hadn’t wasted my money!Service: Wedding gown cleaning
Hands down the best dry cleaners ever!!! I would give them 10 stars if I could. Impeccable service, delivery is quick and always on time! Never a problem with their dry cleaning and I recently had nail polish remover stains on my cloths and they saved them. We really appreciate you! from Team of Bayview dental
Was told suit would be ready the next day for an event. Rang the next day to make sure and was assured all was still OK for pick-up around 4.30. Rang at 4pm and was told nothing had been done and everyone had gone home. Staff said they were very busy and messages were not relayed. Hopefully their lines of communication has improved.
DONT BOTHER WITH THIS PLACE Took my wife’s brand new Versace dress here for dry cleaning. It was returned stained, smelling, out of shape and with a small rip. We returned it to them.. Did not hear back from them in over 2 months. When we went to the shop to enquire it took them 20 minutes to find it. If that’s the sort of service your require, be my guest.Service: Organic dry cleaning
They were good in the past but recent work has been appalling. Most recent work on the garments was appalling. Food stains that should have been easy to remove came back worse. Unfortunately will have to give up on Stannards.
Avoid at all costs. I have been coming here for years and they have now ruined two shirts worth $1000 each in the exact same way. I bring dry clean only shirts here to be dry cleaned... they put two shirts with wool panels through the wash, felting the wool and ruining the shirts. First one I put down to a mistake, but should have learned my lesson. Absolutely no remorse or concern on the second occasion when I was told it was put through the wash because "all shirts are wash only" - well the tag on the garment says otherwise? If I wanted to wash my shirts in a machine I'd do it myself. The docket says dry clean and that's what I assumed I was paying for but obviously not... Staff simply shrugged shoulders and told too bad basically. I'll be finding a new dry cleaner.
After choosing Stannards to clean my wedding dress based on their long history and great reviews online, it’s definitely a decision I regret! I brought my wedding dress to have it cleaned and stains removed along the train, but ended up having it returned with the bodice and sash darkened a grey “tarnished” shade, snagged threads, holes in the netting and sections of missing beads. Admittedly, the dress is delicate, so a loss of a few beads is understandable. But the fact that there were also pulls, tears and loose threads in the surrounding fabric suggested the garment was not treated with care. After raising the issue with staff, we asked Stannards not to have the dress handled again until they could provide an explanation as to what had gone wrong in the cleaning process. They agreed and also arranged for my husband to chat to the owner/manager, Stuart, in-store the following weekend. Nothing however, prepared us for the complete lack of professionalism in how Stuart handled the matter. Despite our earlier instructions, Stannards had also reattached a few of the larger beads before the meeting, presumably to make the extent of the overall damage less obvious. At no point did Stuart offer anything close to an apology and the $200 deposit was not refunded. Instead, our complaint was arrogantly dismissed as being “unreasonable”, because in his opinion, the issues were caused by the dress itself and that they had only put the dress in water with cleaning solution. He even suggested the grey staining was due to the colour of the bust pads something which is impossible as Anna Campbell later confirmed they are the same colour as the dress. Apparently his word was better than ours, merely because his business had dry-cleaned thousands of wedding dresses before. Then, visibly annoyed that we were as he put it “wasting his time" on a Saturday by not accepting his explanation, he abruptly ended the discussion by ordering my husband to "leave the store immediately" and to "never step foot back in his store again”. There is absolutely no excuse for any customer to be treated this way. Think twice before choosing this business.
Suit went in for pressing only for my wedding 2 days beforehand. Was reassured 2 times that it'd be ready the day before my wedding. Called 3 times the day before the wedding to make sure. Was brushed off to say it'd be ready 430pm so don't bother checking....... Suit wasn't ready. Had to send a panicked groomsman to pickup the morning of the wedding at 830am for a 10am wedding. No apology. No discount. No responsibility accepted. Just a 'yeah it's not ready'. Unbelievable.
I have all of my gowns dry cleaned by Stannards and they always do an amazing job!
I took my brand new dress in before the wedding to be pressed and it was not a problem. They took my money and had no issue with the size of the dress. I took the same wedding dress in after my wedding to be cleaned. The ladies uhmed and ahhed about how they would do it, I spoke to their alterations lady, and eventually we settled on a price that was half of what I paid for the dress itself. I took the receipt and they said they were having covid back logs so might take a couple of months. SIX months later my friend sends me a photo of my dress in the window exactly where I left it. I went in to enquire and the staff denied ever agreeing to clean it and had no explanation as to why I had not taken it home after my last consultation or why it had just sat there for six months and I had not had a single call or text about progress or the decision not to clean it. I was recommended this place as a wedding dress specialist, not only could they not clean the wedding dress but absolutely terrible comms in fact, zero comms.
