Great place to go and visit plus take the kids to. Worth buying one if not two or three bags of feed to feed the wildlife ( one bag of animal feed and one or two for the birds ). Would advise going down early so you have the whole day there. Loved the history settlement over the bridge though would of loved and as a suggestion some kind of live demonstration of early forestry etc there. Unfortunately, didn’t like the drive there due to 3 plus near misses with people travelling to fast for the road which for most of the trip is one way ( would advise telling NZTA or council to place more signage out there about slowing down ). Amazing animals that you can get up close to including the Kunekune pigs, goats, horses and guinea pigs/rabbits. Well worth the trip if you don’t mind the drive.

Great day out with kids and adults alike. Very reasonable and tasty food with a varied selection of indigenous and farm yard animals. A bit out of the way but well worth the drive, highly recommended! (the annual pass is great value)

Perfect if you need a break from the busy buzz of the city. The drive has beautiful scenic views of the country side. There's a lovely little cafe to grab a bite to eat and there are all kinds of farm animals, big and small. We went on a thursday afternoon during the school period and practically had the place to ourselves. Definitely a must see

Unbeatable close up encounters with so many different animals.. Highly recommended.. Relatively cheap to go to as well.

A great place for the whole family. Our 3 and 6 year olds really enjoyed it. Much bigger than we anticipated.
