Amazingly caring people at this Church. If it wasn't for any of them, I doubt I would've booked our mother's memorial service. JenniferVisited onWeekdayWait timeNo wait
Worth a visit for both the church, the Manse house beside it and the lovely heritage houses in the local area. Usually locked except for Sunday morning services. St. George's Anglican Church is a church of the Diocese of Tasmania. Designed by John Lee Archer in 1838. Built of sandstone. Bell tower and portico added later following design by James Blackburn. The tower was landmark guiding ships. 2018 seeking funds for restoration. Memorials to Reverend Smith, Millicent Amy and Fearn Rowntree
I love this church. The architecture is beautiful. At night you can see it from everywhere. This church means for me a lot. We explore it at night and we fell in love then.
Steeped in history and glowing in architecture. This church is amazing with it's own museum. Although undergoing restoration it's still worth a visit to see the inside of the church and it's decor. Thousands of convicts and free settlers were married in the church and it was built in three stages. Its historical significance is understated and a local historical society can include it as part of a tour.
Visited as a guest worshiper a year ago. Sermon was theologically solid, parishioners were welcoming and friendly, and the building beautiful. If I lived in Hobart this would be my home church.
Beautiful old historical Church....unfortunately not open when I visited....Visited onWeekday
