I used to go here. This school, despite how progressive it appears to see, propagates a racist culture between the nepo babies that go there and the international students that come over. The education is NOT worth the cost - half the teachers do not actually want to teach and are, proportionally underqualified for a school that is so expensive. Not worth it. Not worth the cost - if you want a similar cost school in the area that actually teaches kids things, try MGGS or something.
My best friend recently graduated here and sang her praises high and low of how supportive her teachers were, how she felt nurtured and says it was the best school to go to each day.
Throughout my life I've been to 10 schools, St Cath's is my favourite. I feel loved and supported there, and many people made learning and coming to school something I looked forward to. It is honestly, one of the only instituties I know that have teachers that can actually teach and is willing to teach-- which, to be frank, is very rare in Australia.nnSo much resources and opportunities for students here, although because it is a small school with limited funding despite having enormous fees, there are some limitations to certain activities, yet they listen to the student's concerns and find a way to make it work-- again, a very rare thing to have in Australia. However, student culture can be very judgemental, there is a lot of unnoticed bullying in the community and stereotypical cliques which is why I am unwilling to give it 4 stars, yet, all schools have such problems I believe. In regards to the academic culture, either students are unwilling to learn or the student's motivation is very strong to the point where its pretty toxic; think of East Asia.nnAs for sports, debating/speech, and the arts, going to this school is like a dream in the sense where, the shere variety, resources, teachers, support from the school and the students alongside you are beyond extraordinary. Although unfortunately, I will not be graduating from this school, I hope my future daughter can experience at least some time at St Catherine's School.
An amazing educational experience both for our daughter and as parents. Very welcoming, great parent alumni, super alumni group and spent many happy years here - cant wait to have grand daughters!
I noticed in all the comments.nThose who went to the school rate it high.nThose who rate it low didn't even go to the school.nSo, go figure.nYes, my daughter wears a blue ribbon and yes I am commenting to boost up the average, since the average score doesn't reflect the fact. And because we love the school.
