Story

A Little Bit of History on Southland Electrical and Refrigeration Ltd.

Southland Farm Services was formed in 1991 and entered the dairy industry to perform installation and servicing of dairy milking systems. The Electrical Department was formed in 2008 under the name Southland Farm Services Electrical and we focussed our business initially in the Dairy Industry before moving into servicing the agricultural, domestic, small industrial and small commercial sectors in Southland. We’ve worked hard on developing our skills in the business and follow these key values each day to continuously exceed our customers’ expectations – flexibility, timeliness, competitive pricing, belief in our product and trust.

Our Electrical Division
In July 2015 we changed our name from Southland Farm Services Electrical to Southland Electrical and Refrigeration Ltd with the goal to provide you with the ability to go to one company for your electrical and refrigeration needs.

The Electrical Division provides a wide range of electrical installation and maintenance services in new and existing homes, small industrial and commercial buildings, dairy sheds and wintering barns. Our Electricians are members of the Master Electricians group and are a team you can trust.

Our Services
Our electrical services include, but are not limited to, installation and maintenance for all domestic buildings including bathrooms, kitchen appliances, lighting etc; dairy sheds and barns; building communications; functionality, terminal and safety checks for rental homes (including pre-buy checks for new buyers) and commercial rental properties, heat transfer units as well as test and tag checks for all of your electrical equipment. We also provide a complete smoke alarm installation and maintenance service for new buildings and retrofits for existing dwellings.

We offer a twenty-four-hour call out service and our highly skilled electricians are available to resolve any electrical issues or concerns. Much of our maintenance work is reactive based and we work closely with our customers to develop preventative maintenance programs tailored to your needs. Carrying out preventative maintenance is cost effective and gives you piece of mind that your systems will perform when you need them too so we are more than happy to sit down with you to plan your program.

Our Refrigeration Division
Our Refrigeration Division provides installation and maintenance refrigeration services in new and existing homes, industrial and commercial buildings as well as servicing the rural sector. We understand how critical refrigeration is for many people and businesses whether that’s for their seasonal comfort or for the protection of commercial goods.

Our Services
We install and maintain Heat Pumps in homes and office buildings and provide maintenance programs to ensure your equipment is running efficiently and is hygienically safe. In the commercial sector the installation and maintenance services we provide but are not limited to, include Walk in Freezers, Chiller Rooms, Bottle Cabinets, Restaurant Chiller Units, Ice Machines, Beer Line Refrigeration as well as Heat Pumps.
Regarding the dairy industry, one of the most critical regulatory requirements for dairy farmers is ensuring their milk is at the correct temperature. We provide an installation and maintenance service for milk vat refrigeration to ensure that occurs. We also install and maintain water chillers and heat pumps in the rural sector.
