South Port UnitingCare is a community outreach service working within the City of Port Phillip.
South Port UnitingCare’s vision is to foster an open, inclusive and engaging community, with opportunity for all to live full, rich and secure lives.
In order to successfully achieve this vision, South Port UnitingCare offers a range of programmes to develop and sustain independent, responsible, resilient and strongly engaged community members. To this end we focus our work on:
• Connecting children and young people to education, training, employment and positive social experiences
• Connecting older people to each other, to the broader community and to the resources which they need to live independently
• Connecting those who find themselves out of the mainstream to services, supports and activities which empower them to become part of their community.
Whilst individual programmes change in keeping with community needs, our core focus is essentially consistent with the 160 year-plus tradition of what was South Port Parks Parish Mission.
It is South Port UnitingCare practice to function at a grass roots level, developing structures which enable active involvement of local people from disadvantaged groups, and to regularly review the relevance, effectiveness and efficiencies of programmes in order to maximise the responsible utilisation of resources.
Across the three core focus areas, South Port UnitingCare currently offers 25 programs, is extending 3 and developing another three.
South Port UnitingCare’s mission is to help disadvantaged people in the City of Port Phillip and beyond address and overcome obstacles in their lives.
