Story

Located in Masterton, Wairarapa, Solway College is one of New Zealand's most historic girls' boarding schools. Established in 1916 and, in the 1970s, one of the first girls' colleges to become integrated in New Zealand, we consistently provide a holistic education for young women in Years 7 to 13 (Forms 1 to 7). We offer a limited number of day girl places and a variety of boarding options.

Masterton is a short trip by car or train (approx 90 minutes) from Wellington, New Zealand's capital city. There is also a daily direct flight to and from Auckland.

This school was horrifying looking back now i'm 25 i don't know how the grown adults act the way they do in this school. The international students were bullied by racist student who the teachers didn't question. The teachers were encouraging us to tell off a girl with autism who was often overstimulated and reacting badly because she wasn't offered adequate support. I have a sister with autism so seeing this broke my heart, her actions were not explained by the teachers we were just told she was bad... anyway that memory hasn't left my brain for 8 years.nALSO THEY FORGOT TO UPLOAD MY NZQA RESULTS FOR 6 YEARS!!!! I THOUGHT I DIDNT QUALIFY FOR UNI WHEN I DID!!!!noh yea the BOT denies it but one of the girls told me the truth so i know one of the staff gave my phone number out to students i had told them were bullying me after i left the school so no privacynI was more supported and had access to more resources at a public school, that combined with the attitudes of the teachers creating bullies means i would recommend invest that 14000 into something else your child will actually benefit from. also random side note this may be a result of the small staff size but i found reviewing my grades a lot more difficult than in my previous school. even with the rubric and breaking down how i meet the points i would not have my grade adjusted
This school is horrible, not only do students not care about others but also teachers. Many students have been caught with substances and nothing has been done about it. Students with special needs get treated differently like their children and get made fun of by students and many parts of the school, like the bathrooms are disgusting. Do not send your kid here unless you want them to end up with mental health issues.
this school is bad, we put a lot of trust into this school for it to give you mental health issues not only from the students but also some of the staff. Many of the students that attend this school have been caught with illegal substances and yet the school has let them carry on with their time at solway like nothing happened you need to do better solway.
If you consider sending your daughter to Solway College I insist you do. She will grow up with the most amazing girls who will become her family. I personally love being here with such a supportive group of girls with me. The staff will go out of their way to make sure your child's time at Solway is the best it could possibly be. At Solway there is limitless opportunities in all areas of learning. They offer an amazingly wide range of sports and cultural activities open to all girls. As for the boarding situation, the matrons and gap students ensure a safe and enjoyable living environment for all girls. We have great routine that helps girls stay on task and focused on school. It's great to have a second family with you not only in school hours but after school too. Solway College shall provide an amazing academic experience for all girls. After reading this I hope you consider sending your girls to Solway.
This school offers soo much great support have been at this school for 3 years and have made soo many friends. Soo many great opportunities that are offered on top of the great schooling and education ehich is provided. I believe i have made life long frirnds at this school if you want your child to be happy and make lots of friends send her to solway
