Beautiful food in the cabinet and from kitchen, elegant atmosphere, and well presented. Ive had kedgeree, frittata, signature ginger slice, and wonderful salads. Dont let it disappear...This cafe deserves your support during these pandemic times!
Nice premise, lots of yummy food to choose from. Panini was great and had a lot of fillings. Banana chocolate bread was very tasty. The scone was delicious. Wait time is good even when busy. This is our go-to place for lunch when we are in Wellington shopping for the day.
I finally got to have a proper breakfast on my last day in Welly. It took a minute to find a place as the hotel I stayed at was quite out of the way so after checking out the hunt was on. Happened upon this place after walking past a couple that didn't really take my fancy. I liked my meal except for the tomatoe. I usually ask that it be removed but I totally forgot this time. Also ordered my usual Earl Grey with milk and it was nice and I think the brand is from Wellington. Staff appeared stressed and/or tired because they weren't that friendly or welcoming. I'm not a morning person myself but as a tourist this would've made a difference and added another star to my review. Great location and a variety of seating available when it is available.
Nice cafe, airy and bright, in an historic arcade. Great coffee, nice cakes and sandwiches, as well as an all day menu and lunchtime blackboard specials.Recommended dishesChocolate Brownie
I do like a friendly reception at a cafe! Makes such a difference and everything tastes better! The mere fact they agreed to a team photo speaks volumes.
Coffee is great. Food is very good as well. Service is a bit slow, but generally ok. The biggest disappointment is the portion sizes. Very inconsistent. Ordered Herbs salad a few days ago and got a decent size portion, today the same salad was about 3/4 of that.
Lovely staff, lovely food and coffee in a beautiful heritage building. Smith the Grocers has been a favourite for many years. The fact it has withstood the test of time proves it is one of the best. - go and enjoyFood: 5/5
Probably the most expensive coffee in Wellington 7.30 for a small cappuccino with nondiary milk shocked me. It tastes usual, food is good, service lovely, it is busy cafe so you'll wait for it and the price? Maybe it is CBD tax and not many other options around on Sunday.Food: 4/5
The quality of the cabinet food is amongst the best in Wellington, consequently prices are a little higher. My favourite is the salmon bagel, far better than other offerings up that end of the town. The Coffee is fine.
Always busy on weekdays as well as weekends. Limited seating. Service quality varies depending on the day. If not busy, service is okay. If busy and you are unlucky, poor service. Freshly made food and desserts. Coffee is average. A bit overpriced but understandable given its central location. Service could be improved. Overall a good place for coffee stop.
