I recently made my first purchase at Skein Sisters online and the staff were exceptionally helpful when I needed some assistance over the phone. I was inconveniencing them, but was never made to feel so. They were friendly and patient and able to help me with my needs. I will gladly shop with them again and recommend them to anyone looking for quality yarn and outstanding customer service.
Honestly I was disappointed in this store. It is often talked about as the store to go to when you are visiting Sydney but I will be telling people not to bother.nnTheir entire mohair section is in one of the photos and with it being so popular and in everything I was really surprised at how small that section was.nnThe other disappointing part was that the only major hand dyed is their in house brand. I totally understand wanting to sell only your own brand but they had basically no stock. In the photo any spot where there is only one skein is a display only skein which you can not buy. I did check the website to see if there was stock if I wanted to buy something but it was all sold out there too.nnIf I had come in with a project in mind that I wanted to use hand dyed yarn for I would have been disappointed as the range was so limited. I was so confused by the limited amount of stock that I checked their website and social media because I thought they may have been closing down.nnBasically don't waste your time visiting the physical store whatever they have on their website is their stock. I honestly don't understand why they have a yarn store with no yarn in it.
My absolute favourite yarn store in Australia.nThis is a store that is filled with passion. I visited today on a warm Saturday afternoon. Inside was thankfully air conditioned and people were enjoying the space browsing, knitting and really talking shop. The team are very friendly and know their stuff! This is clearly evident with the many demo items throughout the store. Deb and the team are welcoming no matter what stage of knitter you are.nYarn selection is wide and I found there was decent stock levels so I was able to grab complete sweater lengths of yarn in the colours I wanted.nThere is a nice selection of books, patterns and notions.nI have attended knit nights as well as classes that were friendly and well organised. I love the fostering of a local craft community that is missing in some of the stores I visit.nBy far an international standard yarn store on my “must visit” list when I am in Sydney.nHighly recommended.
Google Maps helped me find this delightful little shop in Marrickville when I was looking for a wool winder. The customer service was friendly and helpful and the shop was full of colourful yarn on every wall from top to bottom. Parking was also easy to find on the side street.
Such a great store with so many choices of yarns and easy to shop online. Beautiful yarns, reasonable prices and great service. I love receiving my orders from Skein Sisters. There's always a special note with each order which makes it even more special. Thanks so much
