Thought we would try somewhere different to our usual Harry's, so ordered from here last night. BIG mistake. Worst Chinese food I have had in I don't know how long. Absolutely disgusting! Made me wonder if they try their own food before subjecting others to it. The fried rice was a dark brown color, gluttonous and stodgy with three anemic looking small prawns placed decoratively on the top. The sizzling beef was a mass of congealed battered strips of meat. Totally inedible. I can say the one star is for the Combo chow mien. It was ok. Total waste of money. Will never go there again.
Popularity creates its own problems. Luckily we ordered ahead. It’s peak season and there are so many people waiting - some haven’t ordered and some have even walked out. The reality is that it doesn’t matter where you go, if you haven’t already called ahead or pre booked or even if you have, you’re going to have to wait. Our order finally came we were told 30 minutes but it was more like an hour and it was worth it. Beef in black pepper. Spicy/salt and pepper squid. Honey chicken. Prawn crackers hahaha. Chinese food cooked and served for Australian tastebuds. Generous servings. Good taste. Great value. Would recommend if you’re staying around Umina Beach and looking for Chinese food - just be prepared to wait.
Tried this restaurant for the first time today.......NEVER EVER AGAIN! I am totally disappointed in the food. I ordered Spring Rolls, Short Soup, Mongolian Lamb, Beef in Black Bean Singapore Noodles and Special Fried Rice. Not one dish was acceptable, springs rolls were oily and overcooked and had a strange taste. Short Soup was passable but somehow super sweet and out of all the dishes was the only one that was eaten, everything else was thrown away. The Beef in Black bean was watery, had no depth of colour usually attributed to this dish due to lack of bean. The meat couldn't be picked up with chopsticks as it literally fell apart like it had been boiled for hours. The Mongolian Lamb was again watery and lacked depth of flavour and also the meat fell apart when trying to eat it. The Singaporean Noodles were hit and miss, some noodles tasted like water and some were over flavoured, like the dish hadn't been stir-fried properly. Finally the Special Fried Rice was horrendous! Warning Avoid at All Cost! Don't through away your money like we did literally!
I was looking forward to a good authentic Chinese meal....unfortunately I was immensely disappointed. All I can say is, I was terrible. The dim sims were different sizing and overcooked. The chicken curry tasted floury and the chilli beef was just ok. The spring rolls were ok but heavy in oil. The best thing was the prawn chips....the rest ended up in the bin. Sorry but just not good enough
I don't mind the place, although it could certainly do with a massive makeover. Sitting there looking at the dust everywhere and the outdated curtains, seating, tables, everything really. I don't see why they send food out with it overflowing off the plate? Didn't impress me. I like that is has been in the family for over sixty years but seriously clean the place up and make it look welcoming....

I have eaten at this restaurant for 12 years. Tonight i had the most beautiful special fried rice pepersteak mixed vegetables and a delightful sweet chicken and corn soup. It was just as good as the first meal i ate there if not better. Congradulations silver dragon Umina Beach Fantastic .
