Silk gives you a fine dining experience. It is often crowded, and we had to wait a while for a table as we did not make a reservation. There are misses and pluses in the food. The Peking duck could be better, but I like the broth that came with it. The Wagyu beef was good. The vegetarian tofu dish was very pleasing. The fried abalone was considered the average as the price was very high. Anyway, we finished all the food which means the food was good. Overall, a pleasant experience.
We made reservation for our dinner date at this beautiful place. Love the ambience so much. The food and service was great ! Did not disappointed at all. Food quality was perfect. We both happy with our choices and will definitely come back again and also recommend this place !Food: 4/5
We went here for high tea, not knowing what to expect from an English concept in a Chinese restaurant. And were very delighted by the food and drinks. We were served tea that changed color upon pouring it into our cups. Food was very flavorful and ambience was relaxing. The staff were super friendly and were able to explain all dishes and drinks to the tee.
Silks. Every time I suggest Silks to family or friends, they shake their head and say "it's not very good". It's not value for money either. Yet for some reason, we seem to dine at Silks every month or two. Perhaps it's because it is the easiest 'fine dining' restaurant you can book into at the Crown on short notice. And for good reason. Staff vary from inexperienced to inattentive. And once food is served, expect to have to wave a waitress if you want anything. Except this isn't Northbridge. And the food? Imagine if you didn't have a significant discount? Sold out of fresh fish when it was just after opening? Not given a choice of the Lobster size? It arrived slightly overcooked and heavy on the flour. Not very flavoursome either. No accompanying noodles so when we asked for some, we were charged $20 for the oily mess that would be an embarrassment if it was served at a mass produced diner. How could a self-respecting chef even send that on the pass? Either they don't respect themselves, their diners or just do not care. Steamed fish. Overdone. Execution just poor. Dim sum here can be acceptable. But overall, Silks would be in the bottom 25% of any place for consistency or value that serve Chinese food. It's a shame. Because the last VIP dinner I was invited to in the Silks private dining room was superb. Just don't expect the same standard if you're just trying to be the average diner in the main room.
I was here celebrating chinese new year as a guest, invited by a client. It was a beautiful night. Place was beautifully decorated. Service was mostly friendly. We were attended by multiple servers. Some were friendlier than others, some needed to learn to smile. We also had lion dance and overflowing drinks. Servers were checking on us multiple times on what we needed, or to top up our drinks. We began with prosperity toss salad Yee Sang. It was delicious. The balance of sour, sweet and the light saltiness was just right. Then followed with abalone soup. It was another great starter. The main meals, however, were just ok. There weren't many that were memorable, other than the fried king prawn with egg yolk and the cantonese fried rice. The wagyu beef was tender but the sticky mandarin sauce was not a great flavour combo . The dessert was ok. Loved the black sesame ice cream but each component on that dessert plate seemed to be a standalone flavour. They didnt go well together. Overall, I had a good time, food might not be all perfect, but service and atmosphere were much better than the last time I was there.
Fine dine Chinese Cantonese Restaurant. The atmosphere is good with beautiful sparkles of golden decorations. Silks can host large big families, and the availability of high chairs is bonuses. Free onsite parking via crown. What Silks do good Staff are always roaming and readily available. Dishes are quick enough with minimal wait time. Wagyu beef sirloin with XO sauce is tasty. Chicken satay is tender and cooked to perfection. King Prawns Tossed tastes amazing. The signature dessert is a should try, and we all love it. What Silks can do better Half Peking duck is ok. Supreme Dim Sum Selection came as cold, hard, and very average taste, and so does fried noodle. Crispy Murray COD smell is overpowering of fish smell but ok taste. Mocktails are below average but came as premium price tag.
Premium Chinese Cantonese restaurant. Service was really slow and the food took a long time to be served. The Peking duck was very average. The king prawns were fresh and tasty in the tamarind sauce. The toothfish was cooked perfectly but serving was small. The beef fillet was tender with the Szechuan pepper oil. The Buddha’s Delight was delicious.
It was our daughters 18th birthday, so obviously special. I asked Lei Wang one of the waitress serving us where can I find cake in the crown complex as I was poorly prepared for a special birthday cake. She went out of the way and offered to bring a special dessert with a candle. I think her service was outstanding and she did go out of the way to make our evening special. In the end it’s all about good food and experience and she made it happen ! Thanks Lei for special treat.
Booked this place for dinner with the family while we stayed overnight at the Crown Tower, food and service was top notch! We couldn't decide what to eat so ended up their tasting plate instead for $79 each. Did not disappointed at all. Food came out quite fast considering place was busy. Every meal came out, they will tell you what it is. I must say food quality was perfect. We both pretty happy with our choice and will definitely come back again or would recommend to visit this restaurant.
Authentic fine yum cha with a glass of bubbly is the modern way to chow down your tim sum. Parking: Ample parking lots
