Shyun Ramen Bar has the best ramen that I have tasted outside of Japan. The beef sober noodle ramen is incredible. The gyoza and chicken karage is also just as amazing. All this at an incredibly reasonable price. You will not be disappointed and definitely back for more.Food: 5/5
Been here a few times now, beautiful place. Can't go wrong on the menu here. If you have to wait, worth it. Broth is beautifully textured, same with the eggs. Either signature or one of the others, can't go wrong. Don't forget a matcha drink while you're at it. One of the best in Melbourne's SE.
Best Ramen place in the area, dare I say in the whole south east. They've recently expanded to more tables at the back. Highly suggested to book in advanced specially weekends. Best ramen so far is the ramen char siu. Perfectly grilled melt in your mouth pork char siu. Big servings and most of the time good for two. Noodles is perfectly cooked, not soggy and not chewy. Broth is so good on ots own, bowls are always empty everytime we're done. Could not recommend it enough
Went to Shyun Ramen for dinner and ordered their chashu pork ramen. There were a couple of thick chashu pork slices and the broth was so flavourful, portion was average. The iced matcha, served with red beans, was pretty good too. Took away one of their dry noodles but it was unfortunately nowhere near as good as their ramen; teriyaki chicken lacked sauce and flavour.
This is some serious ramen. This is my new favorite place to have ramen. It's all delicious. The pics are of butter pork, regular pork and Tokyo ramen with the clear broth. It's flippin delicious!! And for like $15 it's a steal. Must try
3.5 star. It’s good but not as good as the H-ramen :p. I had their pork ramen with shoyu based soup and tasted my friend chicken ramen with miso based soup. Love the miso one better haha. The chasu was pretty good tho, noodles were firm and nice, broth was a bit thicker than my liking, the softboiled egg was okay. Their takoyaki was pretty good as well.
Love the food here. No fuss, efficient service and good selection available. Karaage chicken is one of my favourites. Seats about 16 inside and three tables on footpath over summer but tables turn over quite quickly so never have to wait long. Order and pay at counter.
I didn’t realised that cleared soup based ramen existed tho. Well, quite good but salty on my taste actually… Anyway, reasonable price, good quality of foodie.
First impressions: A cosy little eatery with limited sitting, which is fine by me since it is a ramen bar after all! I was greeted by their friendly team and was seated immediately. I ordered their signature homemade pork broth ramen noodle w/ pork and egg and chicken karaage. chicken was tender, juicy and lightly battered, and not too oily. It was seasoned well so no complaints. Ramen broth was sweet and creamy with the touch of corn, the pork and noodles were chewy. I usually prefer a thicker / richer broth and their broth was more on the lighter side. Really wanted to highlight their service - it was notably quick and efficient as my food came out in less than 7 minutes!! This is the perfect place for a quick lunch if you are on the go!
An excellent and affordable option for dinner, any day of the week! Even though their prices have gone up over time can’t blame them for that, Shyun is still relatively cheap $13-16 a bowl. Serving sizes are deceiving - I always think the portions are so small when I get served, but then I’m unable to finish my meal! So expect to get nice and full when you eat here The menu is very large meaning there’s something for everyone. Highly recommend getting a few sides to go with your mains. I recommend takoyaki octopus balls and agedashi tofu. They have a smooth ordering system where you can just go up the counter and order what you like, where you pay before you eat. It’s great because you never have to worry about split bills. With the ramen bowls, you can pick your soup base between miso and shoyu which means you get to personalise it a bit! They do not take bookings but if they’re full, they write your name down and call you when they have a table ready so you can wander around Carnegie until then. My one reservation about this place is how they aren’t yet doing their bit to be sustainable. Plastic cups, cutlery, and containers litter the entire restaurant you can see heaps just in the one photo I attached. I totally understand that disposable cups/cutlery cut down on the need for dishwashing, but they should really invest in biodegradable paper items - which pretty much every other restaurant these days have. They get a few online orders for food as well that go out in those terrible plastic containers. I’m hoping this restaurant can take a step in the right direction to help reduce plastic waste and help our dying planet. Overall, highly recommend you give this place a try. And try not to use their plastic while you’re there. Lol
