Shou Sumiyaki

We loved our experience at Shou Sumiyaki. We had dinner in the booth and it was such a great experience. Lovely atmosphere and delicious BBQ. The Japanese set menu is worth every penny. The meat was so tender and flavourful and the drinks were great too!!! Thank you for looking after us so well!

Lovely place to eat at - the quality of service was top tier. I spent my partner’s 30th here and we felt extremely welcome. The staff were accommodating and even though we sat beyond 2 hours of the all you can eat - they told us that we should still take our time and just enjoy the food. They also gave us desserts for the birthday! Although expensive, the service makes up for it and the atmosphere felt warm and comfortable.

My friends and I got their set menu, it was so filling. The owner/manager I think was really nice to us and was attentive. The meat was tender and we loved it. The salad and sashimi too. The only thing that was kinda off was when we still had meat on our plate, the server took it without asking us if we're still gonna eat it. They took that plate instead of those empty ones

Food is really enjoyable and it has a really nice atmosphere! Portion sizes are enough that they are filling but isn’t overdone. I love how there is a variety of dishes available and everything is flavourful! By far the politesse friendly service from the manager & their staff, ambience of the restaurant is definitely something which I’ll come back for!! Thank you so much for the great dining experience !

Came from Sydney and saw this place from a mate's Instagram story. Food was extremely amazing and worth the price. Customer service was actually the best and very friendly. Helpful recommendation from the manager and staff. Would definitely come back to Melbourne even just to visit here.

Honestly very disappointed. Went in on a Sunday night. Menu's were dirty and sticky. We placed our order and waited forever for drinks. They kept coming back with random drinks we didn't order, even after showing them on the menu. Apparently the drink on the menu looked absolutely nothing like it did when they brought it, so we were confused. Service was overall quite slow, although they did get busier after we ordered. Generally we didn't feel very welcome and service wasn't friendly. I probably won't come back. Might suggest looking for other bbq before this place.

Was good. Had the set menu. The staff are a bit too attentive. Felt rushed when we almost finish a dish and they come so fast to ask to take the plate away.

I don’t really write much reviews for any restaurants but this time I have to do it cause this is really the best wagyu beef I’ve ever had in Melbourne. I’m not trying to be exaggerated, but it’s hard to express as I don’t write reviews very often Hope this helps tho All the beef is absolutely amazing especially the A5 wagyu beef I swear it’s a must-try!! My friends also ordered a Hida beef and M9 or M10 Australian wagyu beef Can’t rememberer the name cause they have too many choices Anyway, I’m pretty sure none of them will go wrong. You can actually tell the quality of the meats by their texture. Needless to say, the taste of the waygu is just delicious~~ The sashimi is good and fresh. Staffs are very friendly and helpful, they gave honest opinions and recommendations, even they were so busy but they still so patient and helped us on grilling. I read the latest reviews just now, seeing people complaining about the waiting time. But I was like, the best food totally worth for waiting! We all waited in a long line but after having those beautiful food, we didn’t even care about how long we waited. FYI those comments seem to be the same group of people, don’t understand why are they so free on creating that many accounts LOL Sorry if this is a little off topic, I just wanna support what I like Anyway, I will visit here again every now and then and of course definitely recommend everyone to come.

This was my first time at a Japanese BBQ restaurant. It was an entertaining way to dine. The food was delicious except the duck was frozen and not good BBQd. The Wagyu beef was divine though. It would have been nice to have stir vegetables or a salad to accompany the meat. The service was excellent. Very attentive staff. If you like beef, I recommend a visit!

Went here this past Sunday for a birthday celebration with my partner who is Japanese. He really enjoyed the yakiniku. He isn't usually a fan of Wagyu as he doesn't like too much fat, however the Wagyu here was perfect. We ordered the all you can eat menu with bottomless drinks and hot dish top up. Everything was delicious. I have autoimmune diabetes but my blood sugar levels remained in range and stable, despite eating almost everything. The manager recommended the iced green tea as it had no sugar and it went really well with the meal! The staff were attentive and informative. The restaurant was full but with the booth-like layout it still felt intimate compared with other places and we didn't notice the restaurant was busy.
