This place is a bit weird. On the surface it should be fantastic, the resort is beautiful, and we had a swim up apartment which was great with the kids, but the resort itself seems a bit confused as to its service offering. They describe themselves as a 5 star resort, but the service which feels disgruntled and not very friendly doesn’t match that, nor does the pool bar which plays house/trance music and serves drinks in plastic cups which get left around the pool for hours or in some cases overnight. The restaurant food was also not very good, we got takeaway one night, none of the meals were great, and my son’s burger was raw in the middle. I took it back and the response was so flippant as if I hadn’t paid money for it. Also found it a bit silly the resort is so far out but the food options they are offer from the one restaurant are pretty limited, particularly in the morning when you can get takeaway coffee from the bar but because of the buffet breakfast $38 per person there is zero option to get something small. I witnessed a man ask if he could get some toast and was told he could only get the full buffet. Wouldn’t be hard to think outside the box and offer some pastries or something people can grab quickly. Just something to make the place feel more accommodating and user friendly. Also some more umbrellas around the pool area wouldn’t go amiss, everyone races to get there first thing to get the shaded spots and the loungers in full sun sit there for hours until they are the only ones left. As some other reviewers have said the pool is fantastic, and it is what makes this place good. It just seems a shame it seems to miss the mark on service and vibe. As an aside we stayed at the Sea Temple in Palm Cove also in a private apartment on the same trip and it ticked all the boxes. The pool wasn’t as spectacular but the vibe and service offered was just so much better.
Stunning location and beautiful venue! We stayed for 5 nights in the 2 bedroom apartment with plunge pool and it was HEAVEN. Beautiful rooms, great facilities and overall just stunning. The big pool in the middle of the resort was fun to swim around and we loved the swim up bar. Would definitely stay again. Thank you!
For anyone that has negative things to say about this place obviously take advantage of their privileges and have expectations that cannot be met. The sea temple was amazing. The staff were so nice and easy to approach, the facilities were great and so relaxing! It was the cleanest hotel I have ever walked into. It was just so welcoming altogether. Next time we go to port Douglas if we do we will be going back there. Thank you to the staff for making it such a great stay!
Enjoyed an amazing 7 night stay in a two bedroom apartment with my Adventure All Stars team. Loved the generous size, luxurious rooms & the massive pool was beautiful!!! The resort leads straight onto the beach which was the perfect way to start the day with a morning walk. Will definitely be back. Thanks for your hospitality!Rooms: 5/5
Amazing from start to end. Greeted by happy staff at reception, glass of bubbles while we checked in. Room was spacious, well appointed and a comfortable bed. The jacuzzi and BBQ on the roof was perfect to relax in private. Great location just out of the main area, beach access to an almost empty beach. We didn't want to leave!
Looks like a 5 star resort but doesn’t act like one - bare minimum in regards to the service from staff and the confusing hotel policy. Majority of staff except for front reception act visibly annoyed by guest presence, not sure if their uniform is itchy and that’s why they can’t smile or be friendly but that doesn’t explain the genuine lack of common sense. The food is expensive and resembles McCain’s frozen meals and the breakfast is half decent but not quite $40/head standard. One example of several that summarises the guest experience: we ordered room service and 30 minutes later someone came to our room to personally let us know that we couldn’t get room service from a private villa, but we could get someone to walk to our room to deliver the message and that they hadn’t made the order yet. The room itself was great, the pool is relaxing and the resort is visually a lovely experience unfortunately unmet by service.
Overall great time. Has great pool and good rooms however the service could have been better because they often seemed unistered and for the price it could have been better. I was also charged 120 dollars instead of 12 however reception was very helpful in getting a refund.Rooms: 5/5
The best place to stay in while in Port Douglas. We didn't want to leave pool even at 10pm when you are suppose to get out. Also had a couples massage at Vie Spa which was amazing. Can't wait to come back.Rooms: 5/5
We stayed here for 4 nights at a rate of approximately $500 for a studio apartment. We too were drawn by the photos of the pool and reception area like other reviews only to be let down. We have stayed in many 5 star resorts and hotels which would be around the same rate except the fact that this place was far from a 5 stars rating. I’m not sure how on earth they managed to have received their star ratings but I have taken photos and will do my best to find out. The staff were extremely friendly and the pool was nice and that’s where it ended. Our room was extremely outdated. Everything was either broken, dirty or falling apart. Broken toilet roll holder, shower and and toilet hinges rusted and falling apart. Tiles were all stained, old chipped furniture. Dusty and dirty old window shades. TV on a side cabinet that you can only watch if you are on one side of the bed. Honestly the list goes on. Again I have no idea how they have been rated as 5 stars. I know other reviews have mentioned the same and they have all received the same generic reply from management “Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience. I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. We strive to provide a superior service experience for every customer; therefore your feedback is very important to us. Please rest assured that we are taking the appropriate measures to address the problem and prevent future occurrence. We appreciate your sharing your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the near future.” After you take their money but you are clearly not doing anything about it, you’re just replying to save face. It’s frustrating to travel a long way and spend a good amount of our hard earned money on a resort that was a complete let down. We felt completely robbed, ripped off and let down. A generic reply will not change the fact the we felt scammed, this is not ok!
Pool area and pool bar were nice. The jacuzzi in the room was also a great touch. However, it ends there. The service and staff were not very welcoming or helpful. Everything in the room was outdated and didn't feel very clean. I woke up one morning and saw a massive cockroach run under the bathroom cabinet. Not sure how this place got its 5-star rating. We checked in late, the day before Australia Day and there was limited staff. The lady at reception even informed us that she is only filling in for reception because all the staff were off and that this is normally not her job.
