Firstly Savers is NOT an OpShop, it's a Retailer ReSeller of PreLoved & PreLived in Clothes, Accessories, Homewares, Furniture, Toys, Other Misc items, Books & DVDs.nnBasically they make profits from Donated items and then make a contribution from their profits to the charity of their choosing. Pretty Genius Business Model, whoever came up with it!?! nnThe Savers in Carrum is very well situated & visible to passing traffic being so close to the local Bunnings store.nnSo there is plenty of CarParking and they're Very Genourous with Opening Hours being :n*Monday to Fridays 9am - 7pmn*Saturday 9am - 6pmn*Sunday 10am - 6pmn[ These hours are current as at the time of this Review ]nnIt is Large in scale, nothing at all like a cute OpShop, it feels more like a Giant Clearance Centre of PreLoved items.nnThe Atmospehere is warehouse like a kind of Costco with plenty of Customers piling trolleys full of stuff, cruising the aisles like hungry sharks. nnFyi, once you pay for purchases the Trolley has to be left in the Bay next to the Exit doors. Customers cannot take trolleys to their car. Must carry all goods to yr car...So park close to the Entrance if this is an issue. nnFor the purist OpShop tragics, I'm not sure this will be your 'Happy Place' but it's always worth checking out at least once.nnThe 50% Off Clothing Sales is worth seeing, albeit a lot of people are there at that same time and the sound of coat hangers being pushed along racks by a hundred people, in a large space that echos, along with the Blasting radio is annoying. But the fun of finding some unexpected Treasure/s is worth it and we had fun and some good laughs together with Mum & her friend. nnTo summarise I find the quality of Clothes in suburban local Op shops to be mostly better, in variety, prices, clealiness and less worn out condition, compared to what I saw here. As some of the stuff stuff looked & was actually grubby & a bit like it could have come from a Hard Rubbish collection. With dubious stains on some items...nnBut there's also defintely some unexpectedly good finds in amongst all of it and attached fotos of things which Mum & I lked and purchased and we're really happy with.
Savers Carrum Downs is a huge store. Loads of furniture and homewares... not high on quality but ticks the box. The volume of clothes and books is overwhelming so leave plenty of time to browse. There's something for everyone, even a decent used jewellery section.
I truly love Savers. It’s one of the few places where I can wander the aisles and actually feel a bit of joy, even on the days when life feels heavy. I’ve found things there that have helped me make a house feel like a home again, even when I’m still trying to rebuild my life piece by piece. The only thing I wish is that the prices were a little cheaper — sometimes it’s hard when you’re trying to make every dollar stretch. But I really do appreciate the store, the staff, and the comfort it’s brought me during some tough times.
Always a huge selection that is organised pretty well given the sheer volume of products! Prices more than fair. Could have used some extra staff given it was the weekend and pretty busy
prices are very bad. Considering they are not a charity and get their stock for free. I saw two identical towels. Same brand, minimal wear, good quality towels, I would assume they came in as a pair. One was 6 dollars the other was 14. mind you this is SECOND HAND TOWELS. going for 14 dollars???? and the exact same towel for 6???!! I don't know what person has the price gun for pricing the same type of item at wildly different prices. This is a storewide issue as well, I saw a cotton t shirt - medium quality for 6 dollars, and then next to it a horrible temu quality polyester t shirt for 17 dollars, I can remember the graphic on the shirt, but it wasn't something a reasonable person would wear out in public, let alone stand the texture of this shirt. Savers needs a reality check.
