Cool view from the balcony, when you can watch busy street from above. The main room inside looks a little bit sad and the service system is a bit wired. My chicken screwers were good and tasty, i loved the yellow rise with that, but salad was far from the best. Coffee was ok.
No table service. Expensive for the service. Considering what you pay for meals you would assume they deliver it to you or at least be able to afford buzzers. You have to stand outside the kitchen and wait for your meal. Not allowing you talk to the people you can to the restaurant with. $25 for the meal bellow.
Great food and awesome service. Beer list is ok, but that's not what I was there for. Steak Sandwich is on point. Cricketers Arms Pale is the beer in the photo
Food was good, steak sandwich and ceaser salad. Service was better then most place. Good position provides a lazy afternoon soaking up the atmosphere.
A good experience overall. A fair selection of tap beers I ordered a fish burger and the price was good. About 20. The taste was also good. As the name of the place implies, this is a bar/Bistro. A person orders for drinks and pays for the drink on arrival. Food is ordered from the counter and collected there. Was able to sit there for a long time on Sat
If you can find it you're in for a treat!!! Sassellas definitely isn't a place you stumble onto accidently, located on the third level of the Forrest Chase Mall, but in the midst of everything else being closed in the city for a Sunday lunch and driven my ravenous stomachs we sniffed it out eventually. The restaurant itself was pretty empty and we were promptly shown to a table and had the unique system explained to us: order and pick up food from the counter bit weird but not that much of a hassle. The menu itself wasn't extensive but had all the classic pub meals and the drinks menu had plenty of choice, all at a pretty reasonable price. We chose the pulled pork burger and grilled fish, both of which were beautiful and the lemon lime and bitters was made on premise and really nice as well, all if which was ready in 10 minutes as per the guarantee! Definitely worth the search!!!
Really strange approach to service that kind've tarnished our experience. It went something along the lines of: Wait to be seated, order drinks, have to pay for them immediately upon ordering at the table luckily. Fine. Ask for water for the table, are told we have to go help ourselves from a small urn of room temp water next to a tray of small, badly scratched glasses. Fine. Ask to order food, are told we have to go order at the kitchen - righto... bit odd. Pay immediately at kitchen. We sit around chatting, and then a waitress comes to the table to tell us that the food is ready - over at the kitchen under the heat lamp ready for us to go and collect ourselves. Afterwards we laughed about how the waitress walked all the way from the kitchen to tell us to go get our food from the kitchen - I see now on other reviews that they actually call numbers, but in a loud bar/bistro environment, is calling numbers really a good system? To sum up, it's an inconvenient system to pay for your drinks separately from your twenty dollar burger, and once you've collected the burger yourself, it's not actually that special. We left cracking jokes about whether we should have done our own dishes.
This is the worst place we have tried to eat a meal and we have travelled the world. We ordered Chicken breast with salad and chips. We could not cut the chicken with a dinner knife and when we did cut a small amount it was very hard to chew. After several attempts we gave up. The waiter was made aware of the unsatisfactory meal. He said he would enquire in the kitchen what had gone wrong. He returned and said we had used the wrong knife and we should have used a steak knife, For Chicken ? after a further visit to the kitchen he returned to tell us the problem was that the chicken should have been pre sliced before we had received it to eat. After I said I did not agree and told him that we had eaten chicken in many countries and that his explanations were not valid and the chicken was not as it should have been, he then said I will go and get you a voucher. I explained that a voucher would be of little value as we were moving on that night. We left without having a meal. I would say avoid this place like the plague.
The food was okay, although expensive considering there is no waiting service. But the personnel is unhelpful and rude. I was finishing my meal and drinking the glass of wine when I received an important, overseas video phone call. I couldn't hear the other person because of the background noise and music, so I took the glass of wine and went around the restaurant to find a quiet corner where I could carry on my conversation. I found an empty table and continued talking, when the waitress arrived and ordered me to leave because the table was booked. She could have said something like: you can stay here to finish your conversation, but as soon as the guests arrive would you mind moving away'. But no, she was unmovable. So while I was still talking on the phone I continued searching for a quiet corner and found it immediately outside the door, on the bench belonging to this bar. A minute later the manager on duty midle-aged, washed out redhead arrived and disregarding my engagement in the phone call, started raving boorishly like a madman. He snached the glass from my hand spilling the wine all over the bench, threatened me with the security and became physically threatening, so bereft and engaged in the phone call, I left without recovering the wine or finishing the meal in order to finish my phone conversation. If it wasn't for the importance of the phone call to me, I myself would seek the protection of the security and go to the manager of the building to complain. The expensive self servise and unhelpful, rude, boorish and physically threatening personnel! I will never set my foot here there again!
Extremely rude FOH staff. Did not have my identification on hand and was treated so rudely, the gentleman chose to be so unfriendly and uptight without apologising that I wasn't able to be seated, asked to "leave the premises" and embarrassed in front of other patrons. Even when I do have my identification, I won't ever be returning due to how I was treated. I think he chose to treat me like a degenerate as I was dressed casually, on the other hand when I've arrived in my businesswear it's a completely different story and wasn't questioned about ID. I understand you legally cannot be served without, but the way he went about it was extremely rude. Saying to my friend "YOU can go inside, YOU can go right out that door outside." Disappointing.
