Story

Established in 2012, Salt Meats Cheese is a family-owned Italian restaurant group and purveyor of gourmet Italian produce. The cousin-duo behind Salt Meats Cheese, Stefano De Blasi & Edoardo Perlo share a mutual passion for honest cooking using quality ingredients. At Salt Meats Cheese, we’re proud to share this passion with our guests.

Originally based at Bourke Road in Alexandria, we have since re-located our cooking school and event space, ‘Salt Meats Cheese Kitchen’, to Fountain Street, Alexandria.

Since our inception in 2012, we have now expanded our locations to Broadway, Bondi Junction, Drummoyne, Mosman and Surfer’s Paradise on the Gold Coast and of course.... BRISBANE!

Went for their Ravioli Night. Despite them not being able to locate our confirmed booking, this was a minor glitch to our night and we were seated quickly. Food was excellent, ambience was charming and all covid protocols were followed. Above all, we just want to appreciate our affable and charming host, Mario Ricardo. He was so attentive, knowledgeable with the menu and his whole service approach and demeanour was consistent with the other patrons too. Thank you, Mario. We had a lovely evening and we look forward in returning back.
Went here on a dining voucher. There is a lot of room for improvement and it could potentially be a really good venue. Service seems a bit all over the place, people not knowing what to do and workers overlapping in duties. Had to flag someone down to order after waiting for like 20 minutes for someone to take our order lol. Food also has potential to be good but even some simple dishes lacking. Fries 3/5 - serving quantity was huge but fries tasted like no seasoning and were very large size. Was expecting some real good quality for $9 Aperol Spritz 3/5 - probably would not order again Cauliflower and carrots 5/5- now this was my favourite part and so flavourful, great job here Vegan arancini balls 5/5 - this was also perfect, crunchy, flavourful, and being vegan didn't make you feel too full after without all the dairy : Cheese pizza 3/5 - looked okay but when first picked it up to put it on my plate hadn't even set it down yet and literally all my toppings had fallen off. In t he end just ate all the toppings mixed with crust as the pizza dough was very soggy. Pumpkin salad 3/5 - the salad itself was okay but the pumpkin to salad ratio was terrible. Its meant to be a pumpkin salad not a feta, balsamic, spinach salad. Tiny cm cubes of pumpkin lol. Was going to eat it as a main to expecting some lovely big chunks of roasted pumpkin for $22. Barrata 2/5 - I was expecting a caprese ish salad but this was just inedible, what was the watery substance at the bottom? As it wasn't helping the dish. All in all, a beautiful restaurant with high ceilings and furnishings, and some great food. Just need to do more staff training and then adjust the meals to make the dishes more impactful that makes customers want to come back.
If I could give six stars I would! Fantastic food, fantastic service, and great vibes. All of the staff were friendly and knowledgeable - particularly Mario, who looked after us with with impeccable service. My friend and I shared a pizza, a main, two desserts, and each had a cocktail, and every single one was delicious! We will definitely be returning.
I find Brisbane brekkie options pretty scarce. This place was one of the closest to our hotel and open on a weekend. It is a HUGE space! Warehouse vibes, lots of exposed roof and wood furniture. Chai latte was nice and frothy. I think they have now ceased the brekkie menu, lucky because it was nothing amazing. My omelette didn’t have the meat in the omelette but more wrapped in it? Strange. I think Salt Meats Cheese is more of a antipasti and pizza place anyway, so go for lunch or dinner.
Trying hard to support this local business, but what a waste of money. We ordered the lasagne and the gnocchi take-away. The portion size of the gnocchi was half of that of the lasagne. I called the restaurant to complain but wasn’t very impressed with the response, though was offered a voucher, which I decided not to accept. Both meals were pretty ordinary. The lasagne was bland and gluggy, and the gnocchi what there was of it was oily, & salty. Italian food is supposed to be homely & voluminous. This was neither. I think I could do a better effort for half the cost. Really disappointing after having such a nice meal there previously.
I am not normally a fan of pasta... my wife is... but this one, love their prawn linguine!!! So much prawns in it, and the taste was just balanced... their pizza, Diavola... aahh, have to say, its just sooo good too!!! Service wise, Daniela, the lovely lady who served us was very attentive to our needs, and other staff were also great! Kodus to you all... The place was really nice that we ended up having one of our friends birthday celebrated there last night! And guess what i ordered for myself? Prawns Linguine! Hahaha... and I was in heaven again! And Daniela, our server again! She was really great, along with her colleague, the bday party was a success!
This place is a bit of a joke. Ordered takeaway at 6:39pm... Told you pickup at 7:20pm... We arrive just before the time and are told that Pizzas are still coming. So we proceed to wait another 30min until 7:51pm for the Pizzas. Meanwhile, we watch our food including Calamari and Gnocchi just get cold. So many issues going on here. Staff didn't even acknowledge us when we first arrived and waited near the door for pickup. There is no system. Manager was giving an apolgies and refund to some poor guy who had also been waiting over an hour. FOOD: Cold, Soggy greasy mess as expected. None of it was good... The potion size of the Gnocchi, was tiny and as expected stone cold, the pizzas were also under cooked. Why go here when there are two good Italian restaurants within close walk. Beccofino and Italian St kitchen are so much better in every possible way.
It was my second time at Salt Meats Cheese and I will come back again definitely!! I have loved everything I ordered, the pizzas, Calamari Fritti, pasta and Tiramisu. Airana, thanks for the amazing service.
I just ordered the vegetarian pizza and was a little bit surprised that it was a white pizza, so without tomato sauce. On the menu it says it comes with capsicums but unfortunately my pizza haven’t had any one it. Furthermore, the mushrooms didn’t taste fresh, more like mushrooms from a can, very disappointed. My partner ordered the Buffalo mozzarella pizza. The tomato sugo is very tasty but all in all too greasy and falls apart too easily. Wouldn’t order again any time soon.
Food was average, too much Parmesan on the pasta to the point you could only taste the cheese itself. A simple drink order took longer than the entire dining experience. As for the staff I’m not sure if a smile hurt anyone before but none to be seen, plus what’s up with the inability to split payments with cash and card… Epic fail!!!
