KIDS NOT WELCOME really disappointed with my experience at Salem, where I've been going to for a couple of years and usually enjoy it. This time I also booked my 6yo in for a trim and her first "grown ups salon" trip with Mum. I was told by my stylist that they do kids cuts, the website says so too and the receptionist was helpful when I called to book it in. We were only allowed one chair - I had to stand up while they did my daughter then she had to stand while I was being done. She was offered a swivel stool eventually but was ignored by the stylist as she chatted to them and small details which normally make the experience feel so luxurious and relaxing - such as being offered a beverage - was missing. My cut was rushed and it felt like they couldn't wait to get rid of us. I was charged $40 for my daughter's 10 minute trim. After this I won't be going back. If a place doesn't really want to do kids cuts then they shouldn't say they do.

Salem and co offers high quality service. I have been going for over a year. Summer does my hair and always does what I want and is an expert on dealing with curl and wavy hair. My hair has also been so much healthier since changing salon and coming here would reccomend to anyone.

I always feel so well looked after at Salem hair. I come down from Auckland just to get my hair done by Laurie. That's how good she is! Lovely environment, calm and warm energy and free street parking outside!
These ladies are great! I've struggled with self confidence because of my hair, all my life and these gals are helping me love it. Prices are pretty standard not cheap/not expensive. My advice is if you want a big change talk to them about it and they'll do the best they can to accommodate what you want, but also take on their advice they are after all qualified to give it. I'm glad I was talked out of cutting all my hair off and given a chance to love what I have LOL
I can't rave about Laurie and her team at Salem enough. When I first started going there a couple of years ago my hair was badly damaged, Laurie has not only improved the health of my hair, but found colours that work with my skin tones so well. They're happy to give you their thoughts on what style would work for you, but most importantly listen to what you want - not all hairdressers do that. They are all very knowledgeable on the products they use and what will be best for your hair type and daily use. The salon is always incredibly clean, and stylish with its simplistic modern furniture and art. The girls are all very professional, friendly and happy to chat to you about anything that'd going on in your life, or theirs. They are fairly priced and a good location with ample parking. I've recommended Salem to friends and colleagues who have also come back raving about the brilliant experience they had there. You have a lifetime client right here! Thanks guys, look forward to seeing you at my next appointment!
