I had an amazing experience at Salamanca Market, one of Hobart’s true cultural gems. The whole area feels vibrant, historic, and full of local flavour. Here’s what stood out:nn Stunning stone and brick buildings that give the market a strong heritage feel and connect you to Tasmania’s history.nn A huge variety of artisan stalls and boutique stores, offering handmade crafts, local produce, unique gifts, and delicious food options.nn Great pubs and cafés surrounding the market, making it easy to stop for a drink or snack while enjoying the atmosphere.nn The natural elements — the breeze and tall trees — added a fresh, open-air vibe that made the walk feel even more enjoyable.nn Friendly traders and a lively community atmosphere, making the whole experience feel warm, welcoming, and authentic.nnOverall, Salamanca Market delivers an outstanding mix of culture, history, food, and creativity. Whether you’re browsing, shopping, or simply exploring Hobart, this market is a must-visit. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to experience the city’s true spirit!
A must-visit place if you’re in Tasmania! As a traveler visiting Tasmania, I found this to be one of the best weekend markets I’ve ever been to. There are so many stalls offering a wide variety of food, local handmade products, and unique souvenirs. The market is lively, spacious, and full of energy, with street entertainment that makes the experience even more enjoyable. It’s also located near the famous Kelly Steps, so don’t forget to explore that area too. Highly recommended—definitely worth a visit!
Great local market for locals and popular for visitors as well. Not only it houses groceries, it also has bakery and famous local 'Tassal' fish shop. Complimented with array of shops filled with local artists, gallery and pubs. It is definitely one of heart offering that Hobart has to offer.

Great market with loads of different stalls from food, clothing, and souvenirs. Go slow and enjoy it! It will never not be crowded, though. Park up at Battery Point Clarke St was a good place, and easy 10-15 min walk down to Salamanca.
