Had a lovely Sunday lunch with colleagues at Sailor’s Rest and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.nThe restaurant offers a beautiful waterfront atmosphere with a bright, elegant interior filled with natural light, greenery and relaxed coastal charm. It’s the kind of place that works equally well for brunch, coffee catch-ups, family gatherings or a long lunch with friends.nI ordered a Mocha and a seafood pasta. The coffee was smooth, well-balanced and enjoyable, while the pasta was satisfying with a generous mix of seafood and a rich tomato-based sauce. The portion size was just right for lunch. We also shared the Fish & Chips, which was impressive in both quality and quantity. The fish was lightly battered and crispy, and the serving was large enough for two people to comfortably share.nWhat stood out most was the overall dining experience. The service was friendly, the venue was comfortable and welcoming, and the waterfront location created a relaxing atmosphere throughout the meal.nSailor’s Rest is a great choice for anyone looking for a quality brunch, good coffee, casual dining or a family-friendly restaurant in Geelong. I would happily return again.nHighly recommended.
The Wagyu burger was slightly disappointing as the beef seemed a bit cold, but the Prawn & Chorizo Spaghetti was outstanding — the tomato acidity was bold and perfectly balanced. The mango and lemon mocktail was refreshing and well made.nnSitting under the orange umbrellas with blue sky and ocean views made the experience unforgettable. It doesn’t feel like a trendy tourist spot — service, seating, and overall quality were all impressive. We will definitely return.
We had such a beautiful lunch today at Sailors’ Rest and I felt grateful to share just how special the experience was.nnFrom the moment we arrived, everything felt warm and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious — fresh, vibrant, and clearly made with care. I ordered the mango chicken salad and it was incredibly fresh with such a unique, well-balanced flavour. We also had the salt and pepper calamari on a bed of Asian noodles, which was not only stunning to look at but tasted just as amazing — a real standout dish.nnFor my daughter, we ordered a strawberry milkshake which she loved! and her kids’ meal truly impressed me. It wasn’t your typical menu — it came as a thoughtfully balanced platter with nuggets, chips, apples, strawberries, cucumber, carrots, and celery. It’s so refreshing to see a place put that much care into what they serve children.nnMy husband enjoyed his schooner as well — the perfect pairing for a relaxed lunch by the water.nnWhat really touched me, though, was the kindness of the staff. My daughter suddenly became unwell during the meal, which was quite overwhelming and honestly a bit awkward as a parent. But the team handled it with such compassion and grace. They reassured us, supported us, and made a stressful moment feel so much easier. That level of genuine care is something you don’t come across every day.nnThis place is more than just great food — it’s run by people who truly care about their customers.nnI highly, highly recommend Sailors’ Rest. We’ll definitely be back — and next time, hopefully under calmer circumstances!
Lovely venue for lunch. They were quite busy with uni graduation celebration lunches, but still had some bench seating available. Turned out to be great as you look across the road to the water.nnHad the Steak Frites Roll and WOW, very tasty indeed. Washed it down with a schooner of Balter XPA and pretty much the perfect lunch. Very friendly staff as well.nnI reckon I'd drive down from Melbourne just to have another one.
Been a few times over the years with increasing prices.nThis is not exclusive to this venue as costs have certainly risen in the hospitality industry.nUsually the menu and portion size seems to be shrinking and value starts to enter the equation.nFor day out to enjoy the scenery you would not be disappointed.
