Booked a family room. Very good experience overall. Staff was great. Comfy bed. If you ask for negatives then 1- lack of good views outside the windows 2- bathrooms probably need some refurbishment. Despite of these I would give it a 5-star
We stayed for my daughter's birthday and it was a nice surprise for her to receive wine and chocolates from the hotel. It was a bit pricey for the room though. The foyer was very noisy at one point, as there was a conference but overall, it was quiet, very central to eateries, transport and shopping. The shampoos/conditioners bottles supplied were hard to squeeze and could only get out half of the thick content, the rest was wasted. I strongly recommend that these are perhaps replaced with tubes. We were also charged for items from the mini bar which we did not use but later refunded. Overall a pleasant stay.
I stayed for 3 nights with my husband and 4yo from 4/1-7/1. PROS: We originally booked a deluxe king room but we were upgraded to the executive king. Bed was comfortable and we were able to get extra pillows and towels on request. Location - central to a lot of sites, 10 minute walk to Chinatown and Town Hall/light rail. On top of World Square shopping complex which includes Coles and plenty of restaurants and retail. About a 5 minute walk from Museum train station which was comfortable even with 2 suitcases and a pram Staff were friendly and room service was quick CONS: There is no swing bar lock on the door and there are no locks on the top hung windows. This is a big safety issue, especially when travelling with a curious 4yo The confirmation email noted a cheaper price than what we ended up paying. When I questioned this at check out the staff member noted it was because the children's breakfast was left off of the email The bathroom had water damage with some very visible bubbling to the door and patched over paint and there is no fan The toilet flush would get stuck so water would continually run until you tapped the buttons again. The latch on the bathroom door wasn't functioning so we couldn't keep the door closed unless we locked it There was cracking and gaps between the ceiling and crown moulding above the bar and bed Although it is such a convenient location, the current state that the hotel is in and the price that you're paying per night is not worth it. You're better off paying more for an actually 4 or 5 star experience or paying less for the same. If we're ever back in Sydney we would definitely stay in the area but won't be staying here.
Stayed on a very busy weekend with a major sporting event in town, but despite the hotel being full our experience was fantastic. The staff were very friendly and always helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and the hotel is in a brilliant location. Highly recommendRooms: 5/5
We had a wonderful 2 nights stay at Rydges, excellent location close proximity to many restaurants/cafes and station! The only negative was that our room had a dodgy shower door, so the whole bathroom got quite wet after use. Other than that we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this great hotel.Rooms: 3/5
Don’t know how the hotel got our rooms mixed up or perhaps that was a failure on our part to get in touch earlier before room availability, but anyhow the service wasn’t that great. Instead of getting two separate rooms we had to share one room with two twin beds. Quite unpleasant when you have to hear your family member snoring. Rooms pretty average. Sometimes elevator wouldn’t work, something that probably should be checked out. Giving it more than one star because the location of the hotel is perfect. Great proximity to shopping and eating out, in the heart of the CBD. They just might need to try a little harder next time.
We've stayed here previously and once again found it a great location in Sydney. There's easy access to shopping in world square to get all those essentials you've forgotten. Bring close to China Town there's heaps of Asian food outlets around the area. It's an easy walk to Sydney Tower and public transport. The Sydney Cidery had great food and a relaxing spot to end your day off sightseeing
An extremely nice hotel in the heart of Sydney. Staff were very pleasant, room was excellent and even had a fridge. On the day we left we were able to leave our luggage and the concierge arranged a taxi to the airport which proved cheaper than the taxi we got to the hotel by a full 15 dollars.
Lovely and very accommodating staff. Nothing was too much. Lovely dream beds, great outlook, bathroom was clean and huge. We never stay anywhere else, never am disappointed with our accommodation ever. We don't have a lot of money, and we always seem to be treated like royalty. Free drink on arrival. Thankyou Rydges once again, we will be back.
Good place to out your head down. Helpful front desk and customer service is fantastic! Rooms had a couple of things to note: the shower floods the entire bathroom every time you use it, some things in the room are a big roughed up, and there was a strange bathroom-odor lingering on the entire floor that found it’s way into the room. One of the windows hindges was broken and some weird stains on the wall.
